Took our daughter to post her letter to Santa. She proudly chose the postbox and popped it in with a big smile… 10 seconds later, absolute meltdown because she wanted the letter back. 🙃

This is nail on the head stuff. Letting Arlene become leader was always going to be a disaster (and no, that’s not hindsight – the day Nigel said he wasn’t running, I told another SpAd “we can’t let her do it, she’s a disaster”. He said “what do you mean?” and I replied “well, we
Unionism’s lost decade: How a flawed decision 10 years ago precipitated a collapse for the ideology which built Northern Ireland. If the next decade sees unionism decline at the same rate as the last 10 years, then it will be down to just over 30% support. https://t.co/qh0EpXqKry

It’s worth adding that @JonBurrowsMLA has faced a coordinated trolling campaign on here and hasn’t blinked. Water off a duck’s back. Now that the @allianceparty are suddenly outraged by the hue of a photo, perhaps they could also condemn the abuse he’s been getting.

Politics should be about stepping up when your community needs you and calling out serious problems in society. Alliance’s faux outrage at @JonBurrowsMLA is childish and desperate. They just can’t handle someone who tells the truth and asks the tough questions.
Jon Burrows is attracting a flack online. MLAs should stop being childish on X. For those accusing him of misogyny, though: I contacted all the parties re introduction of sexual abuse amendments in legacy bill. He came back and amendment is in. Never heard a thing from Alliance.

Belfast City Hall belongs to the people of Belfast. We register our children there, we get married there, we remember our fallen at the Cenotaph and we elect our representatives there. City Hall should never have a foreign flag raised above it, no matter which nation it may be.

Genuinely, the people of Belfast just want adults in City Hall delivering for the people they represent. A foreign flag over City Hall is political theatre and only serves to divide communities further.
Council meeting has now ended. Lots happening behind the scenes. The Palestinian flag could fly at midnight.

I can’t believe this is a real tweet, and based on the engagement, a lot of people seem to agree with it. It’s one of the most blatantly racist things I’ve seen on this app directed at a very capable female MP/Deputy Speaker.
Today, the Deputy Speaker presiding over the Budget Statement in the UK House of Commons is Nus Ghani. Nus Ghani was born in Kashmir, Pakistan. There should not be a single person born in Pakistan in the UK House of Commons.

One of the most shameful moment in my time in Stormont to date was when @TGastonMLA raised this in the chamber and quite a few MLA’s laughed out loud. Hard working and modestly paid cleaners had to clear the mess up. Disrespectful.
Toilets at Stormont have been deliberately flooded on six occasions in the past year, an investigation has found. @OliviaPeden_ explains what has been happening. Read more ➡️ https://t.co/tMSHu33ffQ

I’ve no wish to engage in personal insults. I’ve a strong record of standing up for rank and file police officers. It’s sad that voicing objections to a proposal results in being accused of “insulting” them or being “dangerous” & “derogatory”. I’ll do my job professionally.
I would based on the dedicated, professional officers I engage with regularly. That you, as a former officer, wouldn't is profoundly insulting to your former colleagues. I hope the "rank & file" see it for what it is: derogatory, dangerous, self-promoting nonsense.

@ExBusinessman I wrote at the time that there would be enormous challenges-but hoped (rare for me) that new voices, vehicles and voters would emerge and that we’d find a new way of doing politics. What killed that hope, of course, was the self-serving ‘ourselves alone’ SF/DUP deal in 2007.

We’ve been telling our daughter how lucky she is this Christmas and how not all boys and girls get presents. She just looked at us and said, “But Santa delivers to all the boys and girls in the world.” 🥲 I wish that was true.

I wouldn’t trust the majority of Councillors in Belfast make me a cup of tea, never mind make financial decisions of this magnitude. This is an utterly disgraceful neglect of ratepayers’ money, with the Alliance Party’s fingerprints all over it… again.
Belfast Council has revealed it has just £75,000 from its underspend to pay for a £1.1m fuel poverty fund. Seven weeks ago, it allocated £1.9m of an underspend for Irish signs across the city.

This week the health secretary Wes Streeting said the BMA “are increasingly behaving in cartel-like behaviour, and they threaten not just the recovery of the NHS under this government, they threaten the future of the NHS, full stop” Meanwhile in Northern Ireland the BMA has:
