Do you remember when people tried to defend the treatment of poor Bailey the dog at Magilligan Prison? The good news for them is that they can now defend the treatment of the other dogs, goats, donkeys, ponies, koi carp, ducks, hens, ferrets and sheep as well. @JonBurrowsMLA

Mid & East Antrim Borough Council have used a Noise Abatement Notice to stop my constituent practicing his Lambeg Drum; he now faces a £5k if he drums. I’ve written to the Director of Environmental Services pressing for an immediate review of this action.

I’m delighted to see Sinn Fein supporting a UK-wide bid that would include Northern Ireland hosting matches for the 2035 Women’s World Cup. It seems they’ve abandoned their calls for a border poll in 2030… oh well.
Sinn Féin MLA Colm Gildernew has welcomed agreement in principle for the north to be part host of the 2035 Women’s World Cup. @GildernewColm

If the Alliance Party is waiting on a plan for what a border poll would look like, that’s one more thing they share with Republicans, who’ve had 104 years and still haven’t produced one. Brexit was a disaster for NI, therefore Alliance opposed it, why so non-committal on this?
Robbie, I’ve spoken at length about sharing this place and this island - happy to debate and discuss with anyone, anytime. On border polls, Alliance has always said we’ll engage in any conversation about our future without prejudice, and decide based on what’s in front of us at

Ouch. The numbers don’t lie. Manufacturing momentum won’t work. The Union is our home. And it belongs to everyone.
To: @BBCTalkback, Here is a table of all NI Border Opinion Polls since 2022. There have been no polls showing a majority for a united Ireland (UI). NB the earlier Ashcroft poll (before 2022) didn't show majority support for a UI - it showed a plurality for a UI. @williamcrawley

🙄 eye roll emoji. Those pesky Unionists at it again. Not local residents objections, not re-design issues, not planning issues or health and safety challenges, not escalating costs, not the GAA saying "not another penny"....just those pesky Unionists at their work again. £50
Casement Park isn’t stuck because of process — it’s stuck because of a total lack of DUP/UUP leadership. No grace. No reconciliation. No shared society. Just angry never, never, never — with a DUP minister who sat on his hands and cost us Euro2028. That’s the real dysfunction.

I sense APNI just want to stoke tensions between nationalism and unionism while they sit there snearing with a sense of superiority. Surely people see this 👀

If it was the other way round and Jon told Paula to grow up, the Alliance Party would be howling from the rooftops about misogyny and whatever other mud they fancied slinging. If it wasn’t for double standards, they wouldn’t have any standards at all.
The comments by Paula Bradshaw MLA are typical of what I encounter from many Alliance MLA’s. I totally condemned the protest at the Long’s home. In trying to explain that I know how it feels to feel unsafe at home I was told to “Grow Up” by Ms Bradshaw. From Hansard 👇

Let’s not forget Northern Ireland is a global leader in cyber security, fintech & zero emmissions technology - including Wrightbus in my own constituency. Unemployment is down 80 % since 1998. Let’s continue this trajectory, be ambassadors for NI challenge the basket case myth.
In my speech at yesterdays UUP conference I outlined the compelling benefits of the union for our safety, security, economic wellbeing & the preservation of peace (lowest levels of shootings/bombings in 50 years). Smart unionism can out think Sinn Fein and make NI work for all.

Jon Burrows has had a really strong start to his time as an MLA. I can’t think of many cooptions which have had the impact he has had. He’s spot on again in his conference speech

This is a cheap shot at a politician and former Police Officer who has been resolute in his support for democracy and his opposition to those who threaten and undermine the rule of law.
I can’t roll my eyes enough at this feigned attempt to show concern for Naomi & Michael. There are a lot of politicians who should be taking a long, hard look in the mirror today. I would like to think that this horrid incident will encourage them to review their own actions.

Shocking behaviour - no politician deserves to be targeted at their home, full stop.
Below are some of the scenes last night at the home of NI Justice Minister Naomi Long. A large mob, including masked men, gathered at her home in the greater Belfast area. Police have launched an investigation this morning @BelTel

@PaulaJaneB That’s deeply offensive Paula. I lived under severe threat myself & know what’s it’s like when your home doesn’t feel safe. To link my scrutiny with this incident is simply awful & the exact opposite of what we should be doing in standing together shoulder to shoulder.

It’s good to know that a former Sinn Fein MP believes West Belfast and South Armagh are a shithole. If only there were a major Republican party in those areas delivering for “workers, families and communities.”

Under Alliance PSNI’s numbers are at a record low. Justice needs a rescue mission, not made up graphs. End.
The DUP’s collapse cost us 800 police officers. Alliance is restoring our police service and building a safer, stronger community for everyone. It’s time for all parties to back Naomi Long’s Recovery Plan and support our officers.
