The fastest way to kill your vSaaS company: Trying to serve too many verticals at once. Pick ONE vertical. Own it completely. Then expand. Toast didn't start with "restaurants." They started with single-location full-service restaurants in Boston. Specificity wins.

Building vSaaS is a 10-year game minimum. If you're optimizing for a quick exit or fast growth at all costs, you're going to make decisions that hurt long-term value. The best vSaaS companies compound slowly, then suddenly. Patience is a competitive advantage.

interviewed a guy who owns a couch/tile cleaning company. Did $5mil in revenue in 2023 and was left with roughly 5% margins after it was all said and done and everyone was paid. Switched to an aggressive performance pay model, did $5.5mil next year at 24% margins. Insane.
