15 Dec: The holly “bears its crown” in December. Its snow-white late-spring flowers ripen into the bright red berries we associate with #Christmas, making it one of this month’s birth flowers. In folklore, holly is linked with immortality, life, rebirth, and the #WinterSolstice.

I’m very fortunate with a warm home & lots of love. Not every hooman or animal has that. So instead of gifts for meownself, could I ask something kinder? Please donate, even a little, to a local shelter or charity Or spend time with someone who’s lonely

In 2000, the RSPB @Natures_Voice bought Grange Fm (Hope Fm). It covers about 180 ha and is run to make a profit & support wildlife. Last year they made a profit of £110k. The farm is buzzing with birds & insects, more than 2,000 species have been recorded #MakeFarmingBuzzAgain.

There are 40+ species of ladybird in the UK - they help maintain healthy ecosystems in gardens and green spaces. Ladybirds need safe places to shelter and hibernate over winter, so avoid cutting back hollow stems and seed heads like teasels & sedums. https://t.co/K4e1E4izSg

Many insects hibernate over winter, but bumblebees and butterflies may emerge during mild spells and will look for food. So growing nectar-rich, pollinator-friendly plants is especially important in winter and early spring. Ideas: https://t.co/Ud1oVlhx8g
