i wish my c!s friends understood what a deliberate and concerted effort every major news outlet is currently making to sell the narrative that people like me are okay to murder. i wish anyone cared how young we die. they just look away, it’s easier not to think about it too hard.
Inconvenient though it is, I'm pretty sure transphobia was a closer cause of her murder, BBC.

Even if this were true - human rights are universal. They are not transactional. The whole point of speaking out on behalf of civilians being killed in their tens of thousands is that they do not deserve what is happening to them. It is not to get our backs scratched in return.

This is both true and important. It made queer people like me want to leave UK literary culture. You'd walk into your local indie bookshop and there would be a table about how your trans friends were pedos who didn't deserve human dignity, from publishers across the spectrum.
In May 2021, an anonymous letter in The Bookseller warned that transphobia was a problem in the publishing industry. 3 years later, a culture of silence and fear has prevented much further public comment. So I wrote about it. And I named names. https://t.co/PUsQe8PfIw
