Five years ago, as COVID shut down schools, we reassured anxious students. Today, a Grade 3 student asked if we were safe in Canada and if we are going to war with USA. Kid worries have shifted. Never thought I’d have to explain “annexed” to 8-year-olds. Sad that I have to.

The spectrum of sensibility of the teenage brain. This is my son’s sleepover crew. Every weekend 5 or 6 of them land for a sleepover at one another’s houses. I think your right to drive my car should be determined in part by where you land on this line-up, Son. It’s -30 out.

Makes me think of Harry Wong’s work 30 years ago. It always stuck with me. Early Covid caused us to make a change to our distancing practices at the ingress/egress of our building and teachers picked students up at the doors. I wouldn’t go back to old habits.

St. Augustine staff enjoyed a wonderful retreat today beginning with Mass at Little Flower Parish and Fr. Jake delving into the parts of the Mass . Then we touched on controversial issues and our church. We ended the day with acts of service! A day well spent.
