A working paper by @robin_bayes, Daniel Molden, & James Druckman shows that Republicans are more supportive of adaptation to climate change than mitigation, especially when adaptation is framed as a response to extreme weather. #WorkingPaperWednesday

🚨Blog alert: Moral arguments are likely to deepen the climate divide @robin_bayes writes, "When political messaging uses this kind of harm-based moral rhetoric to escalate the climate policy debate, there may be lasting consequences." 🔗 https://t.co/TBeCeSdUT9

Okay, that one was balanced out with a nice one, RT'd above 😊 Maybe I'm slow, but I'm just now discovering that Altmetric tracks when your work was tweeted about...

What's worse: thinking nobody reads your work, or finding out that an irascible stranger linked your work (without credit) to argue AGAINST the certainty of climate change during an angry twitter argument with two other strangers

Feel this so much rn. Relocation is hell: saying goodbye to social connections, grieving the best parts of my last home, actual packing, not getting reimbursed for months, house-hunting in this market.... but crazy as it sounds, course prep has been my spark of joy in all this.
I spent two weeks reading to prep a new syllabus. I had so much fun. I sometimes just can't believe I get to learn for a living. No matter how hard this job gets, I try to come back to how incredibly lucky I am to be paid to read, write, and think.

Just typed the last word of the last chapter of my dissertation. Only edits left! It's been a long road, but I can see the finish line🥹

a big adjustment from TA to Instructor for me has been trying to find the line between being compassionate because students are humans, and sending the wrong message that there are no consequences for mistakes of utter carelessness. please lend me your thoughts

Being on the job market AND teaching an 80-person methods course is really not the best time to need 6-to-12 weeks of a medicine where I'm not allowed to drink coffee or alcohol...🤡

🚨Working paper! In Twitter field studies + lab experiments we find that social media users systematically overperceive moral outrage online, and this amplifies perceptions of collective outrage norms, affective polarization and ideological extremity https://t.co/Eg51SKn7Iv 🧵👇

Thanks! I am indeed on the market. I welcome all emails and DMs if you'd like to talk!
And for no particular reason, here's a reminder that @robin_bayes is on the market this year and your department might just be lucky enough to have the chance to work with her some time in the near future!!!

The pomodoro method really works, but I fall into such deep focus that the timer going off makes me jump out of my skin every single time 🤣
