Inspiring: This Man Did Not Come Back From Achilles Tear Early But Made NFL Insiders Talk About It While Using His Radio Appearances To Speculate About Who On Epstein List
Deshaun Watson: "I'm trying to be legendary ... for me to be that, I have to win a Super Bowl, and definitely win it with the Houston Texans. We've never won one here before, we haven't even come to the brink, ... I'm trying to create history ... and make it a dynasty."
Deshaun Watson said he wrote "MVP" on Lamar Jackson's jersey after they swapped jerseys. "He's like a brother to me, I'm proud of him ... it's all respect."
Deshaun Watson asked about being filmed after game sitting on bench: "This shit hurts. I'm tired of losing. Being so close over the years has just ... yeah, I mean, it's just ... it's tough. Tough."
Deshaun Watson on Romeo: "He's just very loose, he's got guys laughing, enjoying, wanting to come to meetings. He lets the coaches and staff ... do how they wanna coach us ... then we play as one ... it's about being a family, you know, supporting and serving one another."
Deshaun Watson: "I'm not going to lose my spirits in this organization and what we can do. My confidence in my level of play and leadership is going to continue to grow ... nobody wants this to happen but you gotta go through tough times before you get to the brighter ones."
Deshaun Watson on Watt's future: "J.J.'s a big part of my career ... hopefully he's still here in this organization because I wanna be the one to give him that Super Bowl ring ... that's my idea, and I definitely want him here ... that's my take on that, to keep him in Houston."
Watson on fans being interested in technical football ala Sunday's
#viral
content. "I guess more people should do it, especially the older guys like Tom Brady and Brees, doing YouTube videos expressing what they see and do and process, because I'd be interested to watch it."
Deshaun Watson asked about what facing Cam Newton means to him: "Cam's a big brother to me ... he's always been there for me since I was in high school ... he's a guy that I based my game -- especially at a young age -- around ... he's just always been my favorite quarterback."
J.J. Watt and John McClain's exchange to end presser:
"I think everybody likes a good nap and sleeping in ... probably benefitted you too, John."
"Unlike you I had to work every day."
"I was gonna say you could take a break from bashing us on Twitter and everything."
Watt: "One of the things I'm excited about ... is ... getting on the same page with our fanbase again ... there's certainly been abit of a tension there in the last months and years, and I can't wait to have us all pulling in the same direction again ... It's not fun as a player"
The Jaguars are going to get to select Trevor Lawrence No. 1 overall.
The Texans are in-line to watch a top-five pick suit up for another club while paying Laremy Tunsil $22 million.
Thank you, Bill O'Brien and Jack Easterby. Just a stupendous job by both of you.
David Culley: "I've loved every minute of it ... I love this job, and again ... I don't consider this work. ... Feel sorry for me? Do you know what I do? I'm the head coach of the Houston Texans, you know, regardless of what the record is. And that's a beautiful thing."
Lessons from the Andrew Luck situation?
You better not futz around with your good young quarterback and take it for granted. Don’t waste time with Chuck Pagano. Don’t pretend everything is fine because you won 11 or 12 games anyway.
Yes, Texans, this is a bit of a subtweet.
J.J. Watt says promotion/relegation "really enthralls" him as a Premier League fan. "It's not like you get the first draft pick and you're back ... you're out of the league."
DeAndre Hopkins got asked about hitting 8,000 receiving yards before everyone but Moss and Fitzgerald, gave an answer longer than most of his media hits: "To be able to do that with the carousel I've had over my career, I don't like patting myself on the back, but..."
Deshaun Watson on the trick play: "I think it was Chicago that did it ... me and AJ McCarron were looking at it, watching film one day. And we were like actually we can probably run that ... and then Hop saw it and Hop, of course he's like 'let's do it let's do it!'"
I’ve been watching Houston Texans games since 2002 and they have never made me feel this level of excitement before. The confidence I have in them is weird and foreign to me. And it’s absurd that it turned this quickly. I watched Jeff Driskel and Davis Mills platoon last year!
J.J. Watt on T.J. Watt's DPOY odds: "I shouldn't have to stump for him .. but I would've said the same thing last year. So, I will stump for him. He does everything unbelievably well ... I would be stunned if he did not come home with one, which does remain two less than I have"
J.J. Watt: "Is there an element of risk? Yes. But is the upside 100 times better? Yes. Because there's nothing I want to do more than to win with these guys in the locker room for these fans here in Houston. Because I love them, and I love the game."
Deshaun Watson on what he's looking for in new leadership: "It just starts with the energy and the foundation of this program ... there's no real foundation, everyone see it, everyone know that ... it's kinda just up in the air right now, so that's what I'm looking forward to."
J.J. Watt was asked on Fallon show about trade rumors/Deshaun rumors: "I process it by going to Hawaii for a week, and I probably should have stayed there ... we were enjoying Mai Tais by the pool so that was a good way for me to cope with it and I might just head back there."
Bill Belichick on DeAndre Hopkins: "If you open NFL receiver in the dictionary, his picture is next to it. Gets open and catches the ball. Doesn't matter what the route is, doesn't matter what the coverage is, doesn't matter where the ball's thrown, or what the situation [is]."
Josh Allen: "Every loss is personal ... there's some things we should have hit on, put that on my shoulders, especially with how well our defense played today. Teams go how their quarterbacks usually go and I've got to get better for this team."
Deshaun Watson defended Bill O'Brien: "You might have doubt, but there's no doubt. I love that man, I'm gonna play hard for that man. Y'all can say whatever y'all wanna say through all the media and all the writing, but as long as I'm at quarterback he's cool with me."
Deshaun Watson on what he's looking for in new leadership: "It just starts with the energy and the foundation of this program ... there's no real foundation, everyone see it, everyone know that ... it's kinda just up in the air right now, so that's what I'm looking forward to."
J.J. Watt on Amy Palcic: "You can tell from the universal response from prominent people in the business what type of person Amy is ... extremely professional, just really good at her job ... was a massive helping hand with me during the hurricane ... it's a big loss for us."
J.J. Watt: "It wasn't working. I appreciate and respect what we had, we won four division titles in six years with Bill and I appreciate that ... But this year, we're 0-4. Stuff wasn't working. When you have the talent we have, specifically at the QB position, you can't be 0-4."
I don't know how many "the Texans should trade Deshaun Watson" columns are going to be written this offseason -- I'm already beginning to see the thought trickle in some circles -- but I'd like to let you know in advance that these columns are stupid and you should ignore them.
Houston's offense, in its first game without Bill O'Brien, scored on 6-of-9 drives and on every drive after the first one that didn't end with a turnover.
Deshaun Watson on flea flicker: "When I called the play, Duke looked at me and he was like hey if we got pressure, I'm going to keep it ... so that's why he kinda carried the ball a little bit longer ... I was yelling his name ... I called his name and he trusted me."
The Texans have not turned the ball over in two weeks. Deshaun Watson has thrown 19 total incompletions on 76 attempts over the last two weeks, both 300 yard passing days, six total touchdowns.
This team is stupid as hell.
Caserio: "You can't change what's happened ... sorry my friends, nobody's going to bitch and moan about your situation and your circumstances ... there's a lot of good things that I would say have taken place in this organization ... lot of good players here for a long time."
