Oceanside Planning Commission approves a major transit center redevelopment that will create a more functional and vibrant transit center with 80+ affordable homes 👏🎉 Commissioners Emily Gonzales and Grace Redgate did not vote yes

@GoNCTD Commissioner Tom Rosales says this project is a logical conclusion for the Downtown area and believes it will be really good for the community. They motion to support. Commissioner Balma seconds. Motion passes with 4 votes! Emily Gonzales and Grace Redgate did not vote yes

@GoNCTD Next Commissioner (Louise Balma) is very excited about the project and supports it! Commends how many concerns (e.g., biking, EV) were addressed by the project.

@GoNCTD Same commissioner asks is final design will have city input and community input. CEO responds with yes. Same commissioner asks about bird collisions. Toll Brothers Managing Director says they will look into the window technology mentioned by bird advocates.

CEO of @GoNCTD responds to concerns about emissions. Says they have expedited the process to go to zero emissions with their trains and are ahead of state requirements. On bus egress, they said the bus bay relocation will happen regardless of this project.

Developer responds to concerns about bike parking There will lots of bike parking, secured and scattered throughout, on site. There will be EV charging sites as well.

Final speaker acknowledges change is constant but says "it is difficult to watch" Says the project won't enhance the community

Next speaker is happy about the train station is being improved but is concerned about not enough schools being available for the housing being built. They said "Housing is needed" but also said high rises in Downtown Oceanside are "not cool"
