October is LGBTQ+ History Month, a time to honor those who paved the way for cities like San Diego to become a national example for equality, acceptance and pride. Their courage opened doors for so many of us to live authentically and serve proudly. We stand on their shoulders.

On this day 47 years ago, PSA Flight 182 crashed in North Park, claiming 135 lives and forever shaping our community. Last year, I was honored to fulfill a promise to the victims’ families by installing a permanent memorial plaque at Dwight and Nile, site of the tragic accident.
