21 years is a long time. I’m just a kid from Chicago who instantly knew this game was for me. Today, as I prepare to hang up my gloves, I know this journey was never just about me. THANK YOU - TO EVERYONE.

That was a stirring National Anthem. The stadium was in great voice. Roll Tide, but credit where credit is due.

I think we need Niebuhr’s insights more than ever. In “Moral Man and Immoral Society” he pointed out that we always treat “our side” as purely good when in reality all groups are imperfect and given to unhealthy extremes . Grateful for William C. Placher’s insights on Niebuhr.

Another great one - Coleridge become more traditional “having gone much further than the Unitarians, and so having come round to the other side.”

Great line from William Placher’s “A History of Christian Theology” - Unitarians believe in the Fatherhood of God, the brotherhood of man, and the neighborhood of Boston. #ChurchHistory #Theology

Thanks to @BacklistedPod I’ve been getting into Raymond Chandler. Just finished “The Big Sleep.” Full of great lines: “it seemed like a nice neighborhood to have bad habits in.” #RaymondChandler #books

St. Catherine’s in Chelsea, AL created a hiking trail which doubled the public hiking in their area. A great example of how the heart of the Church is at the edge of the community.

A new trail system is open to the public thanks to the efforts of members of St. Catherine's Episcopal Church in Chelsea.

There is a something wonderfully naive and optimistic about a family excitedly embarking on a seven and a half hour drive.

I had a dream about the difficulty of finding a pastor for a church plant on the Moon. Either this means that I’m headed round the bend or this is the next level of work avoidance.

There are a lot of trauma symptoms that we’re familiar with, but sometimes I think we need to pay more attention to things like chronic cynicism, certainty, critique…things that feel powerful and perhaps even righteous in the moment, but which actually do violence to our souls.

My brother, Jack Alvey, preached a great sermon this Sunday. It starts around 17:00. #VictoryFormation #Gospel

I love some saltiness from Richard Hooker: “… those things which you say … turn out to be cobbled together only by poor and slight conjecture. I need not bring up any particular example … since it would in fact be hard to find any examples of you doing otherwise.”

"We used to call people who promised certainty about the future a 'cult.' Now, it's just our culture." - @SHoddeMiller 🔥🔥🔥 Only on page 42 and already feeling the nudge of the Spirit from this book. Whew. #TheCostofControl

Is 90s music really popular right now or has my generational cohort reached the level of affluence where we are being constantly marketed to in song form?
