The oddest and best book I’ve read this year, including a wonderful pencil note in the library copy at the end from a previous reader. What’s it about? Puppets, incest, British tea times in winter, orphans, love. Another @BacklistedPod-driven pick and another absolute belter.

Just read this masterpiece. Wow. Not a book I thought would be my cup of tea and a book usually I would avoid but Backlisted podcast did an episode on it so thought I would check it out. And. Wow. Highly recommend it. @BacklistedPod

Read Jilly Cooper's "Imogen". I'd decided to read this in honor of her even before @BacklistedPod announced they were re-playing their 2019 episode. During an A-Level class I noticed a girl who never read anything, surreptitiously reading something called "Rivals" under the 1/6

@BacklistedPod joys of revisiting All The Devils Are Here. You to thank after part 1 for my then 3 year old daughter taking the paperback to her cot because she 'loved the rainbows' on the cover. So proud

Re-read David Seabrook's "All the Devil are Here". If someone had told me that I would enjoy a second @BacklistedPod episode on a title they'd already covered I wouldn't have believed them. (I'd have been wrong). This was ever better (as well as stranger & more disturbing) 1/7
Read David Seabrook's "All the Devils are Here". Wow! Richard Dadd. Charles Hawtrey. Isn't normally a non-fiction person, but this title from an early @BacklistedPod had a bit of everything. Jumping from sober literary analysis, to seedy underbellies, to teasing authorial 1/3

Thanks to @BacklistedPod I’ve been getting into Raymond Chandler. Just finished “The Big Sleep.” Full of great lines: “it seemed like a nice neighborhood to have bad habits in.” #RaymondChandler #books

@frankcottrell_b When I was at uni there was one female prof in whole country. She was anti-capitalist. Vigorously. She wrote beautifully and allegorically. She never pretended to be a dude. She had strange foreign name and opposed wars. Can’t imagine why she was left out? She was a Titan.

I have no idea why Ursula Le Guin did not win the Nobel Prize. I'll argue for a dragon's life span that this is her best book
