Recruits - transcripts verify your academics. Your film verifies your athletic ability. Camps verify your measurements and movements. Track times verify your speed. College coaches are all about verified data.
A scholarship offer is an opportunity to work harder than you ever have in your life. There is not much “free” about it. The investment of time, energy and sacrifice is extremely “expensive”. The work is unending.
I know players are in the transfer portal for different reasons. I can’t help but think so many were encouraged to take their “biggest” offer and not their “best” one. More time needs to be spent on researching the fit and not the logo.
I remember being with
@AntwaunWoods_
and his father sitting in Pete Carroll’s office when he received his USC offer. Super proud of all that he’s accomplished! As I always say...Recruit LA City!
Most college coaches are about to hit the road over the next 2 weeks. Some coaches may only be on your campus for 15 minutes so be on time & remain in school all day. I’ve told many coaches about players all through L.A. so some may be pulling up on ya!
Ok recruits, you’ve attended camps and visited schools. Coaches are aware of you. Now it’s time to lock in with your teammates and have the best season possible. They will be looking for new film of you this fall. Give it to them!
I’ve been in the recruiting game a long time. Sep 1 is the beginning of legit contact for ‘24’s. For some, it’s an accomplishment. For others, it’s motivation. For all, keep working!
C/O 2022 not signing on Wednesday, it’s not the end. If you are not planning to walk on somewhere it’s time to start researching your JC options. All underclassmen, you should be in grind mode. Get bigger, faster, stronger and make sure your grades are good.
The unofficial visit is a big part of the recruiting process but if you are unable to visit any schools for whatever reason, don’t be discouraged. Be in the best shape you can be on the field and in the classroom and be ready when recruiters are back on the road this spring.
To all recruits who may be a little frustrated with recruiting...keep working! Get better every day. Recruiting can change in an instance and you want to be ready when opportunities comes. Do work!
Attn skill guys: I’ve been sending around film to college coaches & so many reply with “how fast is he?”. You can have good film & still have your recruitment held up behind ?’s about your speed. You can still get looks but having verified times can only help.
Salute to all the HS\JC coaches, 7v7 coaches, trainers and others who are constantly creating opportunities for their players to get college looks. There are lots of DM’s, phone calls and texts that are behind promoting these deserving young men. Keep it up!
Camp season is about over. You’ve attended camps and you are on radars. Many of you are senior evaluation guys. Get to work on producing your best season ever! You 24 & 25’s, get ready to back up your hype or emerge on the scene. Football season is almost here, let’s go!
The
@Ravens
HOF LB
@raylewis
had 0 offers, 4 days before signing day when he got a call from
@CanesFootball
because of how he played in his last game. He went to The U with 1 pair of jeans, 3 tshirts, a pack of pencils, 2 folders, and $20 in food stamps. He said I’ll make it!
I asked a recruiter to eval a player to see if he fit their scheme. He replied back “He’s a good player but not what we are looking for at the position but I passed his film to another college for evaluation.” The other college has reached out to the player. We need more of this.
SI Daily Cover: In L.A., the City Section used to firehose the pros with future all-stars, from Don Drysdale to Keyshawn Johnson. Today, the likes of Crenshaw and Dorsey High are fighting for survival. Can they be saved?
@joshthegoat__
has some ideas:
I love talking to college coaches that love recruiting! They are not only about acquiring talent but changing young lives through athletics and education. Shout out to all the coaches that have that fire and understand their impact!
The Leuzinger Olympians are proud to name Brandon Manumaleuna as the next head coach of our football program. We welcome you and your family to the Olympian family. We look forward to practicing on the field and competing on Friday nights when safe to do so.
Congrats to all that are signing in the early period!!! Salute to all recruits, their families and coaches for getting to this point. As many others have said, finish strong in class and get ready for more work. Congrats again!
New film is right around the corner! I’m too excited to see the results of all the hard work kids have put in. Guys returning from injury, new to the sport and guys who just got so much better, can’t wait to see it!! To all, have a great & healthy season!!!
People always ask me if it’s the HS coaches job to get their players recruited. I say yes. At the very least, they should have a process to get their players evaluated. Great job

I’m pro student athlete but I’m also pro coach. While many are searching for offers, there’s some really good men and coaches looking for jobs right now. Much success to all!
There are a lot of great coaches that recruit the L.A. City Section but not many do a better job of actually getting those guys on their college roster than
@NV_CoachEScott

I know a lot of college coaches are getting a pre-June break but some of y’all are still recruiting your tails off! Shout out to all the coaches returning calls, texts, DM’s, evaluating film and offering players. Salute!!!
Mater Dei (Calif.) WR coach James Finley hired as RB coach at Colorado State, source told
@ActionNetworkHQ
. Finley is an Oregon alum, where he played wide receiver
Some of the recent big $ NFL contracts this free agency period have come from UTEP, Colorado State and Florida International from guys who weren’t 4 or 5* recruits coming out of HS. Recruits, find your fit!
I know many college rosters are full for the ‘21 class but I believe there will be some L.A. area ballers who create opportunities for themselves with impressive play. Ball out fellas!
I made a few calls to assist this young man in the recruiting process. Some offered, others questioned his speed, level of competition and over analyzed their way out of recruiting 1 of the best WR’s in the country. Props to
@NV_CoachEScott
for seeing the talent! Recruit LA City!
The Biletnikoff Award, which recognizes college football's outstanding FBS receiver, has added Romeo Doubs to its watch list!

More info:
College recruiters will be out on the road recruiting soon. Many recruits have done all they can to improve this offseason. Others skipped school, dodged the track & weight room. What exactly do you expect your HS\JC coaches to say about you?
College camp season begins this week all over the country. Recruits, camp smart! Compete and get names of coaches that take interest in you. ‘23’s coaches can follow up with you directly. ‘24’s and under let your HS coach know so they can follow up on interest in you.
College coaches are extremely busy people. Recruiting, coaching and handling their personal lives is a tall task. Recruits, don’t take their time for granted!
College coaches are always looking for special talents. Especially with the portal now, they are more selective than ever. If a coach has 1 spot available at your position and he can choose from HS, JC and portal, what makes you the choice?
Nevada's Dom Peterson was one of 90 players named to the Bednarik Award preseason watch list, which is given annually to the nation's top defensive player.
And please ask the coach for his name, ask for his card or immediately follow him on twitter. Let your HS coach know who showed interest in you so they can follow up.
What to do AFTER camp!!
Follow up with ANY AND ALL coaches that spoke to you - if they spent time with you, even if it was just a "good job".. that could be an opportunity
Send a thank you email to the program who hosted and coaches you worked with, it will leave an impression
The $ being charged for some of these non-college coach attended camps are rising with inflation. Recruits & families have to be smart when camping. For many, times are tight. Try to camp in front of college coaches, most of those are in June.
Recruits (parents too) - Today is Championship Sunday. Go online and look at the rosters of the players in today’s game. They come from all over the country...FBS, FCS, HBCU’s, D2, D3, NAIA. Do your research and find your fit.
It’s 2020 and still needs to be said...recruits...PLEASE...put your best plays in the front of your hudl. Coaches don’t want to watch a 7 minute highlight and your best plays are at the end. Many won’t watch it that long. Make it easier for those who want to help you.
Tuesday Recruiting Notes (a day late)
I had a request for more items to "do" and less items to "don't", so let me run down as many of them as I can think of to do.
1. This spring coaches get one in-person eval day. Make sure you are in school as many days as absolutely possible
So Cal Prospects:
Fill out our questionnaire in order for your database page to be updated with the proper information. I don’t mind typing info all day, but this way is much faster 😅 Appreciate you ahead of time!

Thank You God 🙏🏽 for blessing me with the many opportunities and blessings I have received during this whole recruiting process🙏🏽 I want to say thank you to my Family, Coaches, and those people who have been there for me through this journey as well!! I am fully Committed!!
