We've just held our first workshop for #Lakefly, a new #CitizenScience project we're currently trialing. We managed to see over 50% of our target invertebrates for the project but our favourite was an amazing fish leech. We only found one in our sample, but it stole the show!

Two new invertebrates for me this week- an Angler's Curse mayfly and a fish leech! I've never had either of these in my samples in the past so really pleased to see both. #Invertebrates #Freshwater #Lakes

Always nice to see something for the first time. This is a chironomidae larval case. Is this a particular species that creates these cases? I've seen lots of larvae in the past, but these are the first contained with these beautiful structures. @Freshwaterhabs @RoyEntSoc
