This is my grandfather from Newberry, SC. Forced to the cotton fields at 4. He couldn’t go to school. He ran away at 16 to NYC (12yrs of picking 10 hours a day). Attended a CUNY, &became a contractor. My twin. Died in 2018 at 72. Was extremely tough on us. Forever my hero.
