Sorry, gotta say this is a terrible & exclusionary take. Our movement needs everyone. So many critical ways to get involved. Whether you experience anxiety or you simply have skills on offer that fill other organizing gaps. Get in where you fit in folks! 🫶🏽

“I want to get more involved in politics, but I don’t want to canvas” Worst attitude a campaign volunteer could possibly have 😭😭 On any good campaign - NOBODY is above canvassing or phone calls. Even the candidate, campaign manager, & all high-up staff need to be pitching in!

Solidarity to mi hermana Alexa, who would've made an excellent congresswoman. I support her decision to step down, and I’m grateful for her leadership as we continue the work of building a Democratic Socialist New York. ✊🏽

Banning masks is a disability rights issue. I’ve almost died from a common cold multiple times. It’s not just about COVID. If you’re banning masks, you’re actively excluding those like me from accessing those spaces. Disabled people deserve to be in society.

There seem to be a lot of people who think that power is structural. That once you have a title, you can go around giving orders and demanding things. That's not how power works. Zohran seems to be taking the approach that power works also from moral authority, which is something

“If you have cash and can contribute, as a person traversing New York, towards a street performer or someone at Grand Central, you do feel less isolated from the community. Having cash allows us to express support for each other in a small way.”

As fewer people carry cash, vendors, street performers and people experiencing homelessness and unemployment are at a disadvantage.

My plan is more like Undergrad --> PhD --> Postdoc --> Postdoc --> Postdoc --> Postdoc --> Postdoc --> Postdoc --> Sort of interesting homeless man who haunts a denny's --> Postdoc --> die peacefully in bed surrounded by 150 papers with 10 citations each

Asked to clarify if he thinks Trump is a fascist, before Mamdani can answer, Trump intervenes and laughs it off, saying, “That’s ok. You can just say yes. That’s easier. It’s easier than explaining.”

I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science to advance a far right agenda.

capitalism has ruined people’s outlook on the world and made people think it’s ok to be extremely selfish and greedy when it isn’t. it’s not normal to think human beings should go without shelter, food, and healthcare if they have no money. it’s so dystopian

A lot of people can’t fathom—or refuse to fathom—a sincere Muslim believer who is also an unapologetic progressive and/or socialist. But in New York, such a person is quite common. In the coming years, Zohran is going to break a lot of Islamophobic brains, on the left and right.

we still need to discuss how the democratic party didn't get behind zohran after he won the primary, a thing literally created for a party to choose a candidate. why did he have to run TWICE against his own party?

Last year I started taking screenshots of posts that expressed the extraordinarily strange experiences that I, & others in our little Covid-aware corners, are having. This was the 1st; now I have 100’s. My phone is a documentary, a witness to a trauma unknown to most.
