Most people assume that data centers pay for the electricity they use, instead of the utility companies passing the extra costs to their customers. Every state can, and should do this too.
In New Jersey a bill has been introduced to make sure data centers pay for electricity they use. This power surcharge would go toward modernizing the state’s electric grid.
