Saw a great presentation from Stefan Raspl this week on co-locating z/OS and Linux on #IBMZ. It walked through some of the overlapping access between operating systems and ways Linux smoothly fits into the system & more. Recording and slide deck here:

We also saw expansion of CI tests in the goid project for s390x race builds and for #KubeVirt in a series of ci-related PRs. Also, #RedHat shared the work that went into adding support for #s390x in LLD, the LLVM linker, which included support, CI, and binary releases 🎉.

Also, in a new addition to the report, I'm happy to share that the AI/ML team at #IBM did initial work focused on s390x compatibility for Mage AI, and the Triton Inference Server received compatibility fixes for big endian platforms.

The s390x open source team at IBM confirms the latest versions of various software packages run well on #Linux on #IBMZ & #LinuxONE. In June 2024 validation was maintained for over 30 projects, including: @CockroachDB @doxygen & @HashiCorp's #Terraform.

I would have been less annoyed if more information was provided. Once things got moving again the app was wrong, written announcements told us to go to a track that didn't exist (was torn up) multiple times and caused people to rush to the missing platform. Etc, etc.

We were stuck in NYC for hours yesterday evening. Made the most of it and decided to do dinner in the city, but we still had a pair of grumpy, bored kiddos while we waited in a very chaotic train station, and didn't get home until well past their bed time. Not awesome.
