S3 didn't disappear after the Savage series! Quite the contrary, they would continue on under VIA with the Chrome series, starting with DeltaChrome. Then came GammaChrome, and...........no one wanted to review it. Until now! https://t.co/g5uHjtnIsK

I was looking up some history behind the x86-64 transition, particularly around the Pentium 4 time frame, and I found out that Bob Colwell (Pentium Pro chief architect) has been posting on Quora. Pentium 4 had a version of x86-64 that was fused off.

So update on last night's shenanigans: -New board allows CD-ROMs and I got more games including Tomb Raider to work -Put the P75S back in, Voodoo still wouldn't work in Win95 -Swapped the 2D card...now it works! -Results in Quake 1&2 are... mediocre. DOS Glide is way smoother

Flabbergasted that Steve Gibson felt it was necessary to release a new version of SpinRite after 20 years, which was useful in the MFM/RLL days, but effectively snakeoil once IDE came out. For giggles, booting it from floppy on my i9-13900k system with 40TB of attached storage.

I ported a USB DisplayLink driver to the ISA PicoGUS card so I could use it to watch MS-DOS games make changes to the VGA palette in realtime.

almost no cell signal but maybe this’ll work 2 trees destroyed my roof, living/dining room, flooded my LGR collection rooms down below a dozen or more trees down in frontyard, no way yet to get equipment in to remove trees, roof hole is too big & unstable to put a tarp over it

#Doom 64 running on a Sega #Dreamcast with full per-vertex dynamic lighting and bump mapping, now featuring dynamic geometry tessellation upon loading a level to increase the triangle counts of the environments, improving lighting quality over just using the original, low-poly

Democracy is not a spectator's sport. In these troubled times, you can't stand on the sidelines. You can't remain silent. Truth matters. Democracy matters. Equality matters. That's why this election, I'm voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. Our future matters. So go and vote!

I didn't even know Dreamcast could do bumpmapping :O
Just beta testing jnmartin's masterpiece port of #Doom 64 to the Sega #Dreamcast. This is an actual hardware capture of the full dynamic lighting and bump mapping that we were told for years was too expensive and unrealistic to be used in production on a large amount of
