Clodagh and Sheona took part in "A Fashion Extravaganza" in the Bloomfield Hotel organised by the Mullingar Golf Club last Thursday. The girls walked the catwalk wearing their Junk Kouture outfits. All proceeds went to Saplings School. Well done, girls! Wonderful cause.

The annual Founder's Day soccer tournament saw an incredible series of matches with the staff team emerging victorious in a hard-fought afternoon of competition. Three spirited games showcased the talent and tenacity of students and teachers alike 💙💛

We also need to find more ominous ways of saying 'beating the all-time record' and get out the message that this is likely to be the coldest August we will ever live through.

It's not like breaking the four-minute mile. Breaking (or 'beating') this record is not good news.

It reached 30.3°c at our Naas Urban Station today. Highest August temperature we have ever recorded. Beating yesterdays record.😁🌡

Cripes - only a month to go now before I leave BBC after 35 years. I did my last turn on Today Prog earlier. Felt very upset walking home. Not for me, but for the fate of the planet. Most people still have no idea how bad it's likely to be.

Those who seek to defend life on Earth and human wellbeing are described as "extremists". And our education system is not built to encourage extremism.

Those who support business as usual, which is pushing us towards catastrophe on an unimaginable scale, are described in the media as "moderates". Those who seek to defend life on Earth and human wellbeing are described as "extremists". *They have got this the wrong way round.*

While coverage is welcome I'm not sure that 'signalling weather changes' quite captures the catastrophic potential of AMOC failure. Something is really amiss in RTE's editorial position here RTE news : Atlantic currents weaken, signalling weather changes https://t.co/xNRgRL1g8v

The Atlantic Ocean's current system, an engine of the Northern Hemisphere's climate, could be weakening to such an extent that it could soon bring big changes to the world's weather, a scientific...

No mention here of what might happen in this country if the Gulf Stream collapses. Maybe it's better if you don't think about it. https://t.co/EyJiGCEv6e
