2) Instead of PNGs or JPEGs, all images are delivered in a highly compressed, GPU-ready texture format called Basis: An automatic build script combines all the source images with their depth maps, generates texture atlases and compresses everything.

Some fun facts about this site!.1) The depth maps that give all the images a bit of a 3D effect are (mostly) generated using a Stable Diffusion plugin, embedded into the images' alpha channel, and displayed using a vertex shader:
