@ShellyAsquith Yep. And this system isn't even working to secure the HE sector. There are due to be 10k job losses in HE this year with more to come. This will mean higher workloads and less time for our students. The system is fundamentally broken and no one in government seems bothered

It's not just via aid in terms of armaments that Europe has helped Ukraine. European countries have also hosted millions of refugees: about 15 times as many as North America.

The United States appears to be in violation of the Budapest Memorandum which disarmed Ukraine of nuclear weapons in exchange for security guarantees. The agreement signed by the US in 1994 specifically prohibits economic coercion against Ukraine.

1. If the funding was £73m, why did Durham propose £208m of schemes in the NE transport Plan? 2. How could they possibly justify £100m of that to be spent on road schemes given all levels of government have committed to reduce carbon emissions?
Durham transport funding cut by £50 million despite pleas for Labour government to honour pledge https://t.co/Dlk1sK1dPA

It’s breathtaking how much easier it was for Russia to buy the US wholesale than to defeat Ukraine on the battlefield.

I did not vote for Zelenskyy back in 2019. I haven’t always agreed with his domestic policy, and there are issues I still have with some of it. That being said he is the legitimate president of Ukraine and attacking him personally is attacking the will of the Ukrainian people.

Trump - with his devotion to Putin, abandonment of Ukraine, and lies about history- is the antithesis of everything Ronald Reagan stood for. He is aligning America with the enemies of the very freedom that generations have fought and died to defend. History will not be kind to

If we, Europeans, fail to spend big on defence now, we will be forced to spend 10 times more if we don’t prevent a wider war. As the Polish PM I’m entitled to say it loud and clear, since Poland already spends almost 5% of its GDP on defence. And we will continue to do so.

The incredibly right Joe Lycett is still the only good guest to go on Laura Kuenssberg's show. He nearly got her fired, and she hates being reminded of it, so don't RT. #bbclaurak

It is a year ago today that Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny was killed in an Arctic prison. Indomitable, he spent 295 days of his incarceration in solitary confinement. His crimes: belief in democracy, law, accountability and hatred of Putin’s Ukraine war. Never forget.
