This is exactly right. The question in Government is not "what is Britain's relevance to the war?" but "what is the war's relevance to Britain?".
I‘m slightly disturbed by British commentators focused on Britain’s "relevance“ in this conflict. Why is this important?.Perhaps focus on explaining Britain’s interests, personnel, alliances, threat perception &above all its preparedness. Not on playing a role for the sake of it.
