How to Prohibit Things 101: 1) Claim companies that make [A] "target children" 2) Claim "[A] is a gateway to [B]" 3) Claim that everyone who shares evidence contradicting 1 & 2 must work for industry A = Adult thing that a few kids use illegally B = Truly scary thing

I quit smoking 10 yrs ago thx to vaping. Currently, it is more difficult to remain smoke-free not due to willpower but due to policymakers, NGO’s, taxes, myths, regulations, availability… It was easier to be unhealthy.

@jkelovuori @Clive_Bates How would they know what we want as ex-cigarette smokers, or what worked for us? They have never asked, and the plan they have is to ban and tax the lower SES, because that is who uses most tobacco. That is a human rights problem, not a solution. Nothing about us, without us!

This paper in the journal Tobacco Control has received a well deserved comment from @Clive_Bates on PubPeer: https://t.co/dYgj9JYaZq "Tobacco control advocates are not defending human rights, but rather promoting controls and limitations on the rights of others."

New commentary by TCRG's @Britta_KM and Kelsey Romeo-Stuppy from @AshOrg argues that recognising #tobaccocontrol advocates as human rights defenders would provide them with better protection and align tobacco control with global human rights standards. 👉 https://t.co/w4je0IKlm8

A person has died in Queensland, after taking a teddybear-shaped pill, that looked like well known MDMA/ecstasy , but contained the deadly synthetic opioid protonitazene This was an entirely avoidable tragedy born of prohibition & political hostility to drug checking 🧵1/

@Clive_Bates Gathering thread, I was struck that just recently Cohen / Zeller trashed one of the most widely respected voices in the field, @cdoug -- on the very same, even more tendentious basis for which she takes such high umbrage. Sanctimony off the charts. https://t.co/sV98dBBUYQ

Tobacco harm reduction takes a rational approach to precaution and risk management The European Commission doesn't use precaution rationally. It's guided by activists, zealots and prohibitionists -interest groups intent on banning products without evidence https://t.co/xhYJ7Zxsr3

Exactly. By choking the life out of the legal vape market, the FDA provides a gigantic advantage to the illicit Chinese trade. The Chinese suppliers and middlemen must feel that the American referee plays on their team.

All mass-market vape devices sold in vape shops and c-stores are designed and/or manufactured in China. That includes all FDA-authorized products made by BAT/Reynolds (Vuse), Japan Tobacco (Logic), and Altria (NJOY). This has been true since the first vapes arrived here in 2007.

The Chinese vape products are not all crap; far from it. Many of these products are legal, well-engineered, and popular in other jurisdictions. A particularly damaging influence of @FDATobacco is its effect on lawful American innovation. It is impossible for law-abiding vape

Come on People, where is the support for American made Vape industry? If we don't want crap made in China or other countries, we need to support American Vape companies. If we don't we will have a horrible black market problem.
