i just wanted to show an example of how my workflow often involves a "nodeGroup" here i'm using it to control an overall procedural grid texture. + color.
its almost like live compositing . but it is also way more powerful imo (tho also more cpu intensive).

ohh thanks. actually i've never heard of that but it looks super legit !! the hatch shader is some math (> or < a value).
+then 4 color i just use a lot of "node groups" which essentially creates custom nodes. so i use that to effect all the materials in ways
