I too hate the therapised insta-apophthegms, & the weird narcissist autolysis of me-me-me 'poems'. I think the culture would be in a better place if we took poetry more seriously. But there is also some very good, serious work out there for anyone who cares to look!

Most poetry of any period is mediocre to bad. History has sifted much of the best for us. Colley Cibber was poet laureate! Lots of contemporary poetry is dross, and certainly the hectoring but vague woke stuff you get at lots of readings is a waste of breath and time.
its wild that poetry, an entire form of expression as old as the human condition, has committed suicide over the last century. a lot of it sucks ass now.

🚨UPDATE: David Adler is free and with most of the flotilla members has crossed the border into Jordan from where he will now arrange passage home. But some flotilla members still remain in prison—please do whatever you to pressure the relevant authorities of their countries!
🚨UPDATE: According to French & Australian consulate officials: David is fine, does not require medical attention. He and other flotilla members had staged a hunger strike. They have not seen their lawyers. David is likely to be deported to Europe by Tuesday, earliest tomorrow.

I had the honor of having an early read of my friend Jane Marie Chen's powerful book – Like a Wave We Break. 🌊 This book has a level of honesty, vulnerability, and self reflection that I find so rare in our day-to-day work lives and society — and her messages cut deeply and

A freedom worth the name is not one which can be exercised only on the government's say-so. Rights worth having are unruly things.
“Just because you have a freedom doesn’t mean you have to use it at every moment of every day” Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood defends the new powers to restrict protests the government wants to give police based on “cumulative disruption” #BBCLauraK

have to say, even as an Arsenal fan, Estêvão is an absolute pleasure to watch. A wonderful unspoiled football mind at work, with a smile on his face. Inventive, optimistic, direct. Wish he wasnt at an awful club, but so it goes

the crowd falls silent as I prepare to publish my list of The 40 Best Radiohead Songs: Ranked!. I push the button and there is a big gasp. The list is just eleven songs long and is simply the tracklist from Amnesiac. Everyone is booing loudly now. But its too late. I;ve won

I’ve been notified that David is not one of the 137 activists arriving in Istanbul and remains in Ktzi'ot Prison in the Negev desert. According to lawyers who met him today he’s ‘doing fine’. Please continue pressuring your local reps if you are based in the US.
With @davidrkadler around a year ago. Not heard from him in over twelve hours. David is a US citizen from LA so you’re based there consider contacting your state and federal representatives.

Starmer, the subject of the protests, is using his vast platform to wrongly imply that Jews are in fact the subject of the protests. Make of that what you will.
The people protesting, many of them Jewish, are protesting against Starmer and the UK’s arming of Israel, a foreign government. They are not protesting against British Jews. It is Starmer here who is conflating British Jews with Israel - and doing the antisemites’ work for them.

Why does GBM matter 🤔 Auctions should reward everyone involved. GBM makes this possible by ensuring that value creation benefits participants and not just platforms.

When I see Bari Weiss all I see is Refaat Alareer’s murderer, so I really wish I didn’t have to hear about her this often. Repulsive person.

humbling and shaming to fast this year knowing what people in Gaza are enduring every day. To those who have stood and stand with love against an arrogance of being that cannot be tolerated, you are my brothers and sisters, I love you. until everyone is free, none of us are.
