I admit I am powerless over documenting Bushtit babies but my life has not yet become unmanageable. I may need a sponsor. @LauraPaskus, are you willing?

Here's a shorebird you can see (& hear!) without going to the beach! 🌊Killdeer are plovers that have adapted relatively well to human built environments & can be found along pastures & fields throughout much of the U.S. & Canada. Killdeer chick & eggs🥚 📷: Krista Lundgren/USFWS

This SHAMEFUL decision upends more than a hundred years of legal precedent at the expense of Tribal water rights and the Trust Responsibility. As someone who has spent my career working on water issues, here’s why this decision matters (Thread)
The Supreme Court just ruled 5-4 against the Navajo Nation in its water rights dispute. The tribe is now blocked from pursuing a lawsuit claiming the federal government has a duty to assert the tribe's water rights. @NBCNews

The decision earlier this month strips federal protections from the ephemeral streams that are crucial for life in the arid West.

I couldn't find much, there isn't much science, it seems, but I wrote this last evening, based mainly I info from @corvidresearch
Since bird lungs are super efficient, I wonder what the smoke is currently doing to them. Anyone know?

A reminder if you're visiting the beach this summer that birds such as Ringed Plover, Oystercatcher, Little Terns nest on beaches all around our coast. Their eggs and chicks are *extremely* vulnerable to people, dogs, horses etc etc. Be wildlife-aware and give them a chance!

It’s no secret that our world is facing an existential crisis brought on by climate change. But what many may not know is that embracing the knowledge that Indigenous people have developed over millennia is a key to unlocking a multitude of solutions.
