The pandemic changed a lot of things for a lot of people. For me, it gave the time & space to reassess my preferences and priorities. As a result, I'd quit the PhD I was pursuing in India & have moved to πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ to join @simonrdg's lab @HHU_de in the @sympore1 project! #Plasmodesmata.

There've also been other innovations like *modular publishing*, which need more light on them & need to gain acceptability to see how they fare (for example, @octopus_ac & Research Equals) (2/3).

Wouldn't the implementation of Plan U *in full* proposed by @cshperspectives @mbeisen @JohnRInglis take away most of these problems?. I know it's a distant call right now but I'm sure preprinting + public reviewing + curation models would take care of this!.

I can’t quite understand experiencing the pains of traditional publishing & thinking this is the solution instead of:.-getting rid of the journal format.-getting rid of prestige publishing .-stop peer reviewing everything .

A very nice piece by @aj_boston on the need for dismantling peer reviews into different parts & reviewing a work based on different aspects and specializations! #PeerReview #Publishing .
