Tillage farmers and IFA officers met with public representatives from east and west Cork to discuss the IFA pre-budget proposal for the tillage sector. Thanks to @voteTimLombard @JamesOConnorTD @davidstantontd for their engagement yesterday. @IFAmedia

If there is such a shortage of fodder that it's necessary for the sim to be cancelled, surely the new ridiculous rules around cover crop grazing should also be scrapped . @agriculture_ie @teagasc @TeagascSignpost

Disgrace. Man chops straw last Tuesday. Hours later- straw incorporation scheme is suspended. Farmer down €7,500. In principle, same as cancelling vat refunds after farmers had spent the money. I don’t know why the IFA etc aren’t blockading The Dáil. We’re being rode..

Oil seed rape growers have seen €150ha wiped off their margin. Osr isn't suitable for anything except generating power from heat. There isn't a farm to farm market for this straw, so why take it out of the straw chopping scheme? This will lead to a reduction in tillage aera.

Imv there should be out and out uproar over the sim not going ahead this year. Tillage sector and environmental measures been thrown under the bus because other sectors lack any sort of fodder planning. Sim is a big part of tillage farmers income and has big environmental impact
