So... one of Sting's adult sons has a gaming youtube focused on Destiny 2 and made a very wholesome community update about why he wasn't posting as many videos lately.
After Feb 9th, I will no longer be a UCB employee. April would have been 15 years. I’m heartbroken and a bit numb. I will accept condolences, high fives, and job offers.
Got a little teary eyed watching this, and not just because I sympathize with the technical issues.

and
@VinnyCaravella
in the same room!
And yes, I should have included the link to his youtube instead of just having it in the image (in my defense I did not except this to travel throughout Twitter)
8 years ago the world lost a real force of nature. An absolute champion. A wonderful nightmare. An act of kindness on his part legit changed my life. Love Ryan Davis. Thinking about his friends and family and everyone who loved him.
On the one hand, only paying for one service in the future and getting a lot of anime is good. On the other, Sony owning all the anime streaming services is certain not great.
We are excited to join our peers at Sony and Funimation.
There are many questions we can’t answer yet, but we’re excited by the prospect of this combination.

"I pay my staff in Beast Bucks, which they can use to buy stuff at the Beast General Store". - a quote I made up but expect to see next week.
"People seem to have forgotten when we fired employees pushing for a KS union, so we needed to do something to remind everyone that we don't care about anyone. We can't do this alone, but we'll sure act like it".
The bottom line: we’re doing this because we believe it will benefit creators, and exponentially expand our ability to help bring creative projects to life. We can’t do this alone, and we’re planning more ways to make sure your voices are heard.
Chuck Dauble passed away today. He was THE house manager at UCB Chelsea. Had two sketch show runs. Won 3x3. Survived a bad health scare once. Wanted you to stay an intern if you were great and didn’t want a hug. He was funnier than he ever gave himself credit for.
Also, just so I have it written somewhere: I have read most of the manga and seen the anime. I know thematically it makes sense not to include instructions. But this is a model kit, and model kits usually come with instructions. It's an attention to detail that's impressive.

responding to me saying "now we need papa bear" with "what's up?" like we were talking about him and not the labo piece we were building is probably the cutest waypoint stream moment of all time
Hyouka recently got added to
@Crunchyroll
and I highly recommend it. It's not perfect by any means but it's so rare for a mystery series to be so lively and bright.
@9_volt_
I already thought the whole "radical investor tells Gamestop to get with the times and fix their shit" was already pretty funny, but now "hedge fund at the mercy of reddit" is very funny, indeed.
Today a headhunter suggested that I delete my NFT and crypto tweets because they will "limit my options". So, I guess I suggest more folks write FUCK NFTS AND CRYPTO I'LL NEVER WORK IN THAT INDUSTRY AND THE PEOPLE WHO DO SHOULD FEEL BAD.
The cool things I am lucky enough to do today are, in part, because Ryan Davis agreed to be on my PAX panel. It was only a few months before we lost him.
It would not be a stretch to say that my current professional life wouldn't be what it is without
@giantbomb
. From being on my PAX panels to inviting me on their podcasts to just being good people in my life.
Seasons 1 and 2 of Honey and Clover got added to
@Crunchyroll
this week and you should check it out! It's like 14 years old but still looks great and is a lovely drama about growing up and falling in love.
Why I think VTubers are popular:
1. The streaming medium is full of people pretending to present their authentic self, but it's a lie. We know Vtubers are performing, they're acting, and that's fully understood.
2. People are horny for cartoons.
