Hey, friends, we just gave our company to planet Earth. OK, it’s more nuanced than that, but we’re closed today to celebrate this new plan to save our one and only home. We’ll be back online tomorrow.
Patagonia is proud to join the Stop Hate for Profit campaign. We will pull all ads on Facebook and Instagram, effective immediately, through at least the end of July, pending meaningful action from the social media giant.
Patagonia stopped all paid advertising on Facebook platforms in June 2020 because they spread hate speech and misinformation about climate change and our democracy. We continue to stand by that boycott 16 months later.
Instead of “going public,” you could say we’re “going purpose.” Instead of extracting value from nature and transforming it into wealth for investors, we’ll use the wealth Patagonia creates to protect the source of all wealth.

in saying Facebook’s ‘profits will never be worth promoting hate, bigotry, racism, antisemitism, and violence. - Cory Bayers, Head of Marketing, Patagonia
From secure elections to a global pandemic to racial justice, the stakes are too high to sit back and let the company continue to be complicit in spreading disinformation and fomenting fear and hatred.
As companies across the country work hard to ensure that Americans have access to free and fair elections this fall, we can’t stand by and contribute resources to companies that contribute to the problem.
The Trump administration announced yesterday it will open up all 16.7 million acres of the Tongass National Forest, the world’s largest intact temperate rainforest to logging & other forms of development.
Facebook’s leadership knows what steps it can take to mitigate such harm -- yet they have repeatedly failed to reform. We believe Facebook has a responsibility to make sure its products do no harm, and until they do, Patagonia will continue to withhold our advertising.

We're a company that proudly embraces our activism on issues like the environment, our democracy, and equality and we don't plan on backing down anytime soon.
The internal Facebook documents released over the last few weeks have made it incredibly clear that they know the irreparable damage that their lack of accountability causes their three billion users and the corrosive effects that has on society itself.
This decision has affected our business & the environmental NPOs that we support—whose campaigns benefit from the social media amplification that we fund and execute. But we have learned to adapt. We are smarter in how we grow our community as a result of this advertising ban.
This week, dozens of leading companies announced new action to support a vital common goal: Getting more people out to vote. CEO Rose Marcario writes about the

We originally ran this iconic photo in our Spring 1995 catalog. You have probably seen it copied, reprinted, photoshopped and meme'd. But it's as real today as it was then.
The baby in the photo (who is now 25 years old) tells her side of the story:
This is Griffin. He said, “My dad had it for three years before he gave it to me, but I put most of the holes in it.” When asked what he was doing to shred a jacket so hard, he shrugged and simply mentioned, “Everything”.

Dear Patagonia community,
As COVID-19 spreads—and is now officially a pandemic—we are taking additional safety measures to protect our employees and customers. The scale of impact is still unknown, and we want to do our part to protect our community especially.
“School won’t matter in the future if we’re too busy running from extreme weather events,” says Alexandria Villaseñor, one of the organizers of the September 20 climate strike in NYC.

Today’s SCOTUS decision is a real blow to our nation's ability to address the climate crisis that affects all of us, particularly historically marginalized communities. Despite the misguided opinions of this Court, we’re more determined than ever to save our home planet.
President Biden and Vice President Harris: Welcome! Thank you for taking action quickly to protect our communities and the natural world. We look forward to working together to combat the urgent threat of climate change and to create a cleaner, safer planet.

Heads-up: We’re out tomorrow—every Patagonia employee gets a paid day off on Election Day so we can all be sure to vote. Whatever happens, our commitment to democracy and saving our home planet remains. See you Wednesday.

The Trump administration is trashing environmental rules that protect our health and slowing the growth of the green economy and the good jobs that come with it. We need to elect climate leaders who will invest in a clean energy economy.

We will temporarily close our stores, offices and other operations at the end of business on Friday, March 13, 2020. Employees who can work from home will do so. All Patagonia employees will receive their regular pay during the closure.

We made our new documentary, “Artifishal,” to defend the wild fish we love and tell the truth about the devastating cost of hatcheries, fish farms and the willful ignorance of scientific fact for political expediency.
Congratulations to Deb Haaland on her historic appointment as Secretary of the Interior. We look forward to working with her to protect our nation’s public lands and waters so we can build economic opportunity, empower Indigenous and local communities and slow the climate crisis.

This is Matt. He brought out his vintage pile fleece he picked up second hand, back in 2004 for just $15 at the Nantahala Outdoor Center. A few years ago he sent it our repair center in Reno to repair the elbows. Chances are this fleece will now last forever.
