WOW! I came home from work today and had a package. Thought it was something else I ordered but was surprised when it was from Amazon’s social media team. They sent me the microphones I had on my wishlist. Feeling pretty special. @amazon

The Digital Public Library of America has launched The Banned Book Club, offering free access to e-books and audiobooks in areas where the titles have been restricted or banned. https://t.co/xPn46Deukw

I’ve been able to check some items off my Amazon list for this year. I’ll start back on August 8th. Any help is much appreciated. https://t.co/k6hyP7a9gc

Went on a site that listed good jobs for teachers to make extra cash during the summer and one of the suggestions was Feet Finder. Excuse me….🫣😂😂😂I didn’t look to see who curated the list but just wow.

I’m glad CB has come out with a very explicit response to censorship in AP courses. These are college level courses and SS elect to take the course.
Florida recently notified us that we must modify any AP courses that include content prohibited by their new laws that restrict instruction related to sexual orientation and gender identity. Our response:

I cleaned out who I was following on Twitter awhile ago but it’s extremely depressing to look at my feed. Where are the corners of twitter that y’all about books and crafting and fantasy and happy well adjusted people. I guess another purge is in order.

‘Earned respect’ is difficult for me to comprehend. Essentially …teachers should put up with rudeness, contempt and at times abuse… Until they have earned the students respect? Same for.. caterers, maintenance, new staff.. Who is really in charge here?

I even had to give up scholarship money because I fell below part time and couldn’t “find a random class to take at night” like girl I’m working a full time job on the weekends and working a full time internship I don’t have the time. Craziness.
More people need to question the system that decided that a student teacher needs to pay full college tuition without getting pay for the full-time work that they’re putting in at a school for multiple months

I would quote phoebe the next time someone says this.
Me: Posts a tweet about the pepper spray video and the problem of cell phones in the classroom Them: I've never taught public school but why don't you just tell them that cell phones aren't allowed in the classroom Me: Thank you for your keen insight

Yep, and if I have to spend 10-12 hours a day in here I’m gonna make sure it’s a nice place to be. Most bookshelves are mine as are the novels on my shelf. I even had to paint the white bookshelves myself b/c they were so disgusting.
Part of the reason that I believe teachers spend their own money on their classrooms is because districts make the process to spend what little (if any) funds teachers get unnecessarily difficult and convoluted.

We are playing Apples to Apples to review for FRQs. Students are picking the best works of fiction to respond to prompts. Shamelessly stole this idea and resources from a other AP teacher. @SamuelClemensHS @AP_Trevor @SCUCISD @ClemensEnglish

TEA seriously used the term “zone of uncertainty” for test scores. you can’t make this crap up. I think we need t-shirts made. I want to create a sign for my classroom door.

“It’s not the county’s job to burn the library down." Llano County library branches will stay open. County commissioners had considered closing the libraries in response to a ruling from a federal judge who ordered banned books returned to the shelves.

Anyone else hyper fixate on a comment a student said under their breath and now you’re questioning every choice you’ve made trying to figure out why they would say it. No? Just me? #teacherbrain #teacherlife #teacherstress #teachertwitter
