Akshata Murty is worth £27bn and went to all that trouble to avoid £20m tax. Thats the same as having £27,000 in the bank and dodging paying 20 quid. The greed is mind boggling.
Nurses, ambulance workers, rail workers, postal workers, teachers are not the enemies of the people. They are the people. In many cases the best of the people. This government narrative is vile.
I'd had the most hellish six months of my life. Then I got on set with Joe and Esme and this year's adorable contestants and all the bad things just went away.
Hope you had as much fun watching it as we had making it.

I was told I could watch my dad's coffin slide into the cremation furnace via webcam. Meanwhile Boris and co are spaffing wine up the walls and vomiting on the carpets. What did we do to deserve these shameless bachanalian con artists?
I know Im biased, but gosh I really love
#SewingBee
Our contestants are the loveliest most fabulous most talented people you could ever hope to spend time with. Thank you all for making it such a joy to be a part of.
Well that's that for another season of
@britishsewingbee
Its been a pleasure. All that's left is for me and Esme to give the place a good once over and stick the bins out. See you all again next year.
PS
@joelycett
can you bung the lights off once you've had your brew?
H&M's sustainability adverts can fuck right off.
You've dyed a top with coffee. Whoop-de-doo. Your entire business model is the problem. Not the dye on one top.
I'm sure I say this every year. But WOW. So much talent, so much creativity, such lovely, warm, generous, funny, brilliant contestants. What a fabulous finale and what an incredible winner. I cannot wait to start filming next year's

The thing about Netflix is most of it's shows are actually REALLY bad. Whereas loads of Channel 4's shows are really flippin' good. And Amazon? It's dogshit. This government are cultural imbeciles.
Making people take subjects they don't like or are no good at is pointless and stupid and would be a massive waste of everyones time and money. Schools need to be great for kids who like maths and science and art and woodwork and sport. That way everyone gets a chance to succeed.
For the benefit of clarity, my 'party for one' comment was nothing to do with sewing bee being filmed in lockdown, I really am just a miserable loner.

This is how to solve a cost of living crisis. Invest your time and money building for the long term energy security of your country. Don't waste it shouting about scroungers and boats.
🚨GOOD NEWS: Portugal just ran on 100% renewables for six days, bringing consumers' electric bills to NEARLY 0.
If Portugal can achieve this, why can't we?
We did break esme! I'm in tears now watching it back. It was such a JOYOUS experience. Thank you to every single one of our sewers for making it so.
See you all next year.

We planted a field of flax, on a piece disused land, right in the middle of blackburn. 100 days from now we'll harvest it, spin it, dye it and weave it into denim, then we'll cut and sew it into jeans for the

Your last fix of televised competitive sewing til next year. Congratulations to all of this years fantastic contestants. I hope you've enjoyed watching it as much as we enjoyed making it.
Fun fact. In textiles a mordant is a substance used to set a dye. In times gone by weavers would keep a big bucket by the back door in which they would collect piss for this purpose.
This tweet is unconnected to the current conservative leadership race.
I would pay another penny in tax to ensure NHS staff get fairly paid, and to ensure we continue to have a functioning health service, though I'd rather see it paid for by super taxes on the covid super profiteers.
This England team have brought home something more important than a trophy. They've brought home to us the idea that decency, humanity and social equality should be at the heart of our society.
They are a shining example to all young people in multicultural Britain.
I really was totally gutted to go out of Masterchef so early. Being the first out is the pits. So a heartfelt ‘sorry’ to every Sewing Bee first evictee. But I had such a great time with my MC crew. And preparing for the show was the perfect lockdown distraction.

We're wrapped, and the sun sets on our final day in docklands. Thank you to everyone that I've been lucky enough to work with these past six weeks. I havent laughed so much in ages. Perfect antidote to the shittiest of years.

This England team is something different. They are young, intelligent, inspirational, committed. They understand the power of their words and deeds and use that power for good. Unlike many of our so called leaders.
You don’t get to stoke the fire at the beginning of the tournament by labelling our anti-racism message as ‘Gesture Politics’ & then pretend to be disgusted when the very thing we’re campaigning against, happens.
What makes us think that EU lorry drivers are going to pack in their secure well-paid jobs, leave their friends and family, and move to Britain for a job they'll lose in three months time?

Throwing the British music industry under the bus, for the sake of what, stopping EU bands coming here who might be imigrants?? has to rank as one of the stupidest things any government has ever done. Our music industry is aguably our greatest cultural gift to the world.
Buy Second-Hand.
The most sustainable clothes are the ones that already exist. So if you really want to live in a way that's best for the planet then love the clothes you have, fix them, pass them on, swap them, ebay them, or give them to a charity shop or a clothing bank.
Welcome lovely (and hilarious)

crew. We're so pleased you've joined us.
Thank you

for three brilliant years. We will miss you. Xx
Cycled to Fleetwood, bought a large dressed crab, cycled home, ate the entire thing on toast with lemon, mayonnaise and Tapatio hot sauce. Good Sunday.

While the govt twats about with planes to Rawanda and small boats bullshit rents have gone up almost 40% in 4 years and ordinary folk in Bolton, Bradford, Rochdale etc cant afford to keep a roof over their heads
89 year-old Mary and daughter Mo live in the Scottish borders.
Mary suffers from dementia and the two have been self-isolating together, and Mary has been helping Mo to sew face-coverings for family, friends and neighbours.
We take our hats off to you both!👏

Big book writing news. LESS. Out May 9th. Why we all need to stop buying so much rubbish. And why having fewer, better things might make us all happier (and if we make these things locally will create loads of good jobs).
