RT @vardi: We hate printers as much as you do. Printer Week is here to help. https://t.co/wEVZHTQstQ [ What! I thought computers are peripherals to printers so we can make beautiful marks on paper. ]

RT @orcmid: #Reagonomics was a bankrupt economic notion, and yet someone thought it a good idea to coin #Bidenomics with no economic notion whatsoever? Sloganeering over substance. Terrific. This will not age well.

RT @orcmid: RT @S_Stantcheva: . A thread diving into the intriguing history of the General Property. [You need to have a normalized GDP though, since that ~1930 spike was in the Great Depression :). PS: Or just overlay GDP with its own scale.

RT @JL202X: @orcmid @GeorgeLakoff ... If, by chance, you’re referring to them actually living by Jesus’ teachings, well then I’d have to say it probably shouldn't even be on the list, lol. [Precisely]

When I was 8, my private christian school used test scores to place kids into a special gifted program. I was the only third-grader to qualify for it at my majority-white school. My white peers complained. The program never ran again after that year. It's never about "merit".

I’m thinking about the person who told me that when we were kids their mom would punish them whenever I placed higher than them at an orchestra audition. It didn’t matter that I had been playing longer or that I was more skilled. They should have at least beaten the Black kid.

RT @jeroenhjanssens: I just learned about the expression "zero, zilch, zip, nada" and now I finally know where "NA" comes from. [or "Not Applicable", as here?]

It is “big decisions” week at the U.S. Supreme Court. While most people have an opinion about how the Court is handling its job, the details are often obscure to a substantial share of the public. This week’s decisions will come as surprises to many. https://t.co/DDINehkCER

Yeah, my mom and dad's interracial marriage was illegal until I was a year old and then--later--they struggled to buy a home in their Long Island community because people didn't want to sell to a Black lady. Good times!

In my view this was key moment in CNN history. Jake Tapper speaking (on set with with Berman and Keilar, May 4 2021): https://t.co/gUoYiKKcxm "If they're willing to lie [about] the election, what are they not willing to lie about? Why should I put any of them on TV?"

It's been a while since I tried to write an end-user facing program. I'm realizing my pain point is error-handling. Not that I'm bad at it; rather, I'm *really* good at thinking about *all* the things that can go wrong. This is painful to track, painful to code, and not much fun.

The most harmful consequence of Higher Ed’s failure to adopt the public good as its core value is the concomitant failure to transmit that value to students.
