Despite saying they wanted to work with us, exec @NavaPBC have continued to exclude our least privileged colleagues from the union - the roles with higher turnover & lower pay 😠 Everyone has the right to a safe & equitable workplace, not just highly paid tech workers! #1u
We are at a crossroads in negotiations with @NavaPBC executive team, some updates🧵

Wow! That was fast! This afternoon we heard back from @NavaPBC’s CEO, Rohan Bhobe, that Nava exec is interested in negotiating terms of a voluntary recognition agreement. We are so excited to move forward in this process, and now the real work begins: 🧵

A behind the scenes look at some of the creative process behind our logo🎨 So many hands go into bringing a union from idea to reality ✨
Here's a round of ideation sketches 👀🖍 The heart actually happened organically! I was sketching some buildings & riffing on how to portray a civic vibe (right) and realized it looked like a heart. I pulled the heart out (bottom left) and it all started coming to life ✨

I'm so proud and excited to join with my colleagues in asking @NavaPBC leadership for voluntary recognition of our union! 😃😃 I love the work we do, and a union will ensure we can do it sustainably & equitably! #1u #civictech
Today we are proud to stand together and ask @navapbc leadership for voluntary recognition of our union. As a union we will build a stronger, more sustainable organization for our staff, our clients, and—most importantly—the people we serve.

Doubling down on this, but it's not just folks who have immunity problems and the elderly who are going to be affected. Working class people will be hit incredibly hard by this because most of us can't "work from home"; we HAVE to go to work to make a living #CoronaVirusSeattle

The Supreme Court on Monday allowed the Trump administration to move forward with implementing its controversial #publiccharge rule. We created a simple and free tool that helps you estimate your risk of being denied a green card under the new rule:

Today Boundless Immigration filed an amicus brief against the #PublicCharge rule. Thanks to @LeviStraussCo @Microsoft @Twitter @Postmates @remitly and more than 100 U.S. companies for signing on in support of legal immigration. https://t.co/5YBfAdJYF7

Big win for immigrants: The DHS #PublicCharge rule today was blocked from taking effect on Oct. 15, but it’s only a temporary delay — and green card and visa applicants outside the U.S. weren't spared. 1/

@JamesFallows It is one thing for a sitting president to break the law. It’s another to let him. The integrity of our democracy isn’t threatened when a president breaks the law. It‘s threatened when we do nothing about it. The GOP’s silence & refusal to act shouldn’t be a surprise. Ours is.

Do not dismiss @AOC for casting lonely votes. Would anyone trivialize @RepBarbaraLee for voting against the 2002 AUMF? I voted yes for the House bill & no on the Senate. But I am glad the body has voices of moral dissent. History proves that dissent provokes reflection & change.
That public “whatever” is called public sentiment. And wielding the power to shift it is how we actually achieve meaningful change in this country.
