(1/4) A new paper @brainstimj challenges a foundational assumption in computational models of brain stimulation (neuromodulation/electrical stimulation). Rather than suggest prior predictions were wrong, this paper shows how the suitability of this foundational assumption can be

Our latest paper on multi-locus #TMS uses a 2-coil array and a paired-pulse TMS paradigm to evaluate the optimal orientation for #SICI and #ICF. Worth checking out. ๐Ÿง โšก๏ธ @AaltoUniversity , @rjirjirji, @Connect2Brain, @usponline, @cienciausp , @ulfziemann1, @LariKoponen

Where to place an ultrasound transducer to optimally target a specific brain region in a given individual? We developed ๐—ฃ๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ง๐—จ๐—ฆ, a tool that helps TUS researchers to quickly and heuristically select the most promising transducer placement(s). A ๐Ÿงต on its functionalities.

Placement of the TMS coil is defined via 3 positional (XYZ) and 3 rotational parameters (abc). We set-up PCD with cortical e-field exposure in mind and also provide positional and rotational submetrics if you prefer that. Please have a look at the publication for details. 4/5

Then, you're free to use PCD as - a post-hoc trial-wise exclusion criterium - as a regressor for a higher-level model - as an overall quality metric for a session/site/experimenter - ... 3/5

@SandraM4rtin @GesaHartwigsen @labCoPla @brainstimj For #neuronavigated TMS you can easily record placements for each zap, it's usually a single click. We provide python scripts and tools to import this data, and compute zap-by-zap displacements as PCD, for example to your initial coil placement. https://t.co/kYAVsZ4OwX 2/5

Why is motion correction a thing for fMRI but nobody quantifies it during #TMS? Well, we just put out a metric to easily quantify within-session movement of the TMS coil, e.g. due to subject movement. Say hi to pulsewise coil displacement / PCD. https://t.co/wuma9VRKi3 ๐Ÿงต 1/5
