Great to see that these days @replit is finally getting the recognition it deserves. 🀯 I started learning using @replit in '15/16; first to learn how to code, then to teach kids basics of coding . Didn't realize I was that early in the adoption curve.

@ossia Goes back to 2009 when I had the idea! Took two years to build MVP, which was a few langs all compiled to JS using emscripten (first of its kind). Released in 2011 as OSS and engine used by Udacity, Codecademy, others. Died for a while then @HayaOdeh and I restarted in '15/16.

Reading code is hard! Don't you wish you could just ask the code what it does? To describe its functions, its types. And maybe. how can it be improved?. Introducing: @Replit code oracle πŸ§™β€β™€οΈ. It's crazy, just got access to @OpenAI API and I already have a working product!

In my experience, people seldom get rewarded for reducing unnecessary expenditures, redundant efforts, etc. unless they have equity. Sometimes you will actually be punished because you shine a light on gatekeepers' inefficiencies. Gatekeepers don't like that.

Congratulations @Conaw @hashbrown490 πŸ₯³. Incredible, but not surprising, ARR. Can't wait to see your 10-20 year plan come to fruition. This is just the beginning.

Often, the "why" behind a decision is as important as the implementation (or even moreso). For aspiring contributors, this context is invaluable. You can fork code, but you can't fork context.

So we recently made some changes to our Discord channel structure. Convos between engineers and designers are now in public view. "Working with the garage door open" . becomes."Working with the engineering and design studio open".

One thing @swyx warns about it in his "Learn in Public" article is the closed nature of certain comm platforms, most notably Slack and Discord. At Athens, we experienced the negative effects of the pull towards private comms on Discord. Private channels *are* convenient.
