👵🏽#Olderadults are typically targeted by internet scammers due to their lower digital literacy & limited computer support network. This project trained older adults to share reliable #cybersecurity information with their peers to prevent opportunistic cyber-attacks.
🔐The CyberGuardians project trained fourteen CyberGuardians who went on to disseminate good quality #cybersecurity information to approximately 820 people through peer-to-peer learning over the course of nine months. @jjnicholson

It is extremely important to make young people aware of non-enforcement activities, as a means to foster trust and engagement, which would also create the basis for collaboration & communication exchange that young people & the police think are necessary for reducing knife crime.

Young people’s understanding of policing approaches to knife-crime is not entirely aligned with all policing initiatives; young people are very aware of enforcement-based activities (i.e. mainly ‘stop and search’), but completely unaware of the community-building ones.

The Mental Models mainly emphasised ‘stop and search’ activities which they identified as having a strong racial bias, and as “unfair and abusive”. They feel these activities are responsible for their complete lack of trust in policing.

The project used Risk Communications’ Mental Models approach to understand and compare police officials’ and young people’s perceptions about knife crime, trust in policing as well as their needs and expectations. This understanding was used to design the ‘Fear of Crime App’.

Not-Equal project CinCity worked directly with young people affected by knife crime and police officials in Hackney to understand young people’s experiences and situational contexts of knife crime, including their perceptions of trust. Find out more 👉 https://t.co/NV4n0CrUso

An important thread about why #AI & #algorithms are more than just a system design issue.
1/8 🙅♀️ Debiasing AI is not a silver bullet! 🙅🏾♂️ EDRi's latest report by @AggieBalayn & @sedyst from @tudelft shows that EU policymakers must STOP framing AI harms as technical flaws in the design of the AI systems, which can be fixed by using tech or "debiasing" solutions.
