Rightly lots of debates about growth this weekend - rightly because it was low productivity growth that saw wages entirely flatline during the 2010s.

This is seismic. When the Telegraph - the house paper of Brexit - publishes a 2,000-word obituary admitting: 📉 Brexit has cut UK GDP by up to 8% 📉 Investment down 18% 📉 Productivity down 4% 📉 Employment down 4% 📉 No trade benefits 📉 No regulatory freedom 📉 No immigration
🚩😮 Peak F*CK ME Brexit moment When the Telegraph - THE BREXITGRAPH - publishes a full-blown obituary for Brexit, admitting: 📉 GDP down up to 8% 📉 Investment down 18% 📉 Productivity down 4% 📉 Employment down 4% ❌ No trade benefits ❌ No control of immigration ❌ No

Billionaire wealth keeps piling up. Everyone else is left with less and less. With this mountain of pasta, I show why we need to tax the Billionaires.

🔥The People’s Commission for water has found that Steve Reed's £100bn figure to put water in public hands is ‘serious scaremongering & based on biased evidence’. ❗You can read their open letter to the Environment Minister here. https://t.co/gp0IyBDh61

I spent a year at Ofwat back in 2013 working on price controls I’m not remotely surprised it’s being abolished - what I saw astonished me 🧵

@LizWebsterSBF @SamanthaPepys This should be a massive story. Betrayed by the lies of hard #Brexit, UK public, who now want closer EU alignment and do NOT want US food imports, are being betrayed again.

And what is UK law doing? 🧨 SI 2025/753 removes inspection rules for fruit & veg 🧨 GMO and additive rules being dismantled 🧨 Checks abandoned 🧨 All done via Statutory Instruments — no vote, no scrutiny This isn’t “reset.” It’s sabotage.

Want mass heat pump adoption? Fix the running costs. The electricity-to-gas price ratio is key. When policy makes electricity artificially expensive, the cleaner choice isn't the cheaper one. It's time to rebalance energy taxes, as this @theCCCuk chart highlights.

Too true. Listen up @Ed_Miliband.
Reminder that electricity is stacked with levies and a carbon tax and gas gets a free pass, fundamentally imbalancing the market. While a heat pump specific payment might deliver a few heat pumps, it won't solve fundamentals and is at risk of cancellation. Wider reform needed.

I just voted for a community wind turbine location! https://t.co/j9eRKUNxqO it’s near to the Jack & Jill windmills on the South Downs so a windy site and a great way of showing wind power through the ages! Please join me in voting for this site

Vote for community wind turbines anywhere in the UK - community wind projects generate cash for communities, reduce the need for grid upgrades and help tackle climate change.

https://t.co/uGDKnCE5zs I had high hopes that the EPC method update of 15th June would make them properly useful, but the government cocked it ip a bit. . .

Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) changed from 15th June 2025. Instead of recommending fiddly upgrades to heating controls. or telling householders to “get a wind turbine”, they have at last...

A good and salutary article. As building regulations toughen up, architects won’t be able to ignore its lessons. Can’t come soon enough for our planet.
The question of how architecture, human behaviour or urban design can adapt to heat is in the news. A problematic development is the spread of glass skyscrapers. I had various media interviews, but six years ago I wrote an article that captures my point. https://t.co/Lkuf3Yr2Sa

It seems that our rulers, here in the 'liberal' West, have homed in on a new way of turning a person into a non-person. Here is a man, Hüseyin Doğru, a German journalist (of Turkish origins, but not a dual citizen) whom the EU authorities have found a novel, immensely cruel,

Honestly, if the switch to locational pricing is expected to reduce bills for everyone (albeit with slightly mixed impacts, BUT all bills down), it will be a total policy failure if the government allows it to be killed by lobbying.
