Day 2: Left Barcelona for Ibiza and boarded just in time without a seat in hand. Vueling is like Indigo of Spain. Low cost and overbooks. And then got picked up in a huge ass black van.

Reflected that I should have probably taken a petrol car to not waste any time in charging.

Well the day had not ended, still had to get dinner. Had gotten Meghna biryani packed for a friend who flew from Zurich and we ate it at a local pub. Good vibes only.

Day 1: Arrived in Munich with such a lovely cold windy weather. Temp at 15 degrees. Didn’t need a jacket but wore it anyway. Had a connecting flight to Barcelona 10 hours later in the evening so decided to clear the immigration to head out.

Saw the Bavarian Alps from my window seat over the wings. Not the best view but okay. Seeing the perfectly separated farms in the countryside was a bliss with streams in between.

Bought a vape, strolled around more, found this casual pond in the middle of the market where people were just sitting around listening to the sound of the water. It was great vibe.

Boarded my 9 hour long LH765 flight to Munich and melted into a restful sleep with this. Sleep mask and ear plugs helped.

Caught my flight to Barcelona just in time and thought about: this day doesn’t matter, the trip afterwards matters. Was happy again sitting in the flight and not on the road. Saw the countryside and Alps again.

Witnessed great weather in Barcelona on landing and instantly got to my hotel and treated myself to a hot tub. Perfect way to end the day.

Booking was non refundable and I anyway always wanted to drive one so took it. Quick thoughts in my mind: will go to the castle, park the car on fast charge, come back to airport and spend a lot of time at the castle overlooking the Alps.

Had booked a Cupra Born (which has ~400km range) from Avis via Klook on the spot since the queues at car rental counters were long. Thought I would negotiate but didn’t want to wait.
They gave me an electric Mini Cooper, claimed 280km range and it was the only one available

Had earlier planned to take the day München pass and visit the city centre on foot. Had researched everything. Spontaneously decided to rent a car seeing the glamorous Sixt counters and beautiful castles 2 hours away from airport. Thought this was doable.

Thankfully, found a supermarket to use WiFi to recharge my data pack, waited for an hour to get the Mini fully charged, paid ~€10 for it, and then decided to ditch the idea altogether to go back to the city. Instantly regretted my decision to take an electric for the highway.

Then drove through Munich highways (getting used to the lane discipline), was feeling anxious too being alone having to navigate while keeping eyes on the highway. The moving cars were so fast that my Mini actually felt the wind when parked on the sidelane.

Halfway through, I realise I don’t have enough charge to make it to the castle, started looking for chargers nearby, anxiety increased. Found a charger but it being in German only increased my anxiety. Roaming balance got depleted, went in search of WiFi just to buy more data.

Then on the way back to the Munich city, tried to overcome the regret and had a really nice drive with road trip vibes, was touching 150kmph frequently.
But I couldn’t go to the Castle :(

Rental company had a policy of returning the car with full charge which simply wasn’t possible since I had to catch my flight. By this time, I had stopped caring about expenses on this particular day.

I’m a firm believer that credit cards actually elevate our lifestyle and enable us to do things which we wouldn’t have access to otherwise.

Listening to Mere Rashke Qamar in Ibiza was not on my bingo card. We just followed the sound from the streets and found ourselves in an open air music festival in the Ibiza Castle.

Checked in to our Aparthotel in Playa d'en Bossa which was 10 mins away from the airport. Aparthotels are a cross over between hotels and hostels which was perfect for us.

Came back to the hotel at 06:30 and watched the morning twilight from the balcony.
That was it. This day was about just going with the flow, not planning anything. Watching the sunset from the top of the castle would probably be the highlight of my trip.

The plan was to go out, have a quick lunch, buy supermarket stuff and come back to sleep in an hour.
But then ended up roaming around in the Ibiza old town. Very pretty vibes with great skies and weather. We were walking the whole time.

Day 3: Woke up pretty late to the sunny windy Ibiza afternoon. Walked up to the nearest bike rental store and rented out a scooter for the two of us. Taking a zero excess insurance is always a good idea from the rental itself. Costed us €44 including insurance plus co driving.

Core memory was watching the sunset from the top. Perfectly aligned stretches of islands in the backdrop with the Ibiza coast on one side parked with yachts and endless sea on the other side. All this while spotting planes and listening to the sound of the birds from the Castle.

Went back to the hotel to get the much needed sleep only to wake up couple of hours later to go to Hi Ibiza club in the middle of the night. 3 stages and a garden all with different vibes. How does boiler room inside a washroom sounds?

Day 4, Ibiza: By today, we were really really tired after partying for 2 days continuously. We had already booked tickets to a party boat to see the sunset from the boat (and also party because it’s Ibiza) so there was some schedule to reach the boat at 6pm

Soon realised that in Spain, it’s optional to have the right rear view mirror on two wheelers which seemed like a bummer on the highway but got used to it later on by following lanes. Driving in Ibiza is such a pleasure with roads going to the coast and the hills every few kms 🤌

I had danced a lot at the boat and was so tired, couldn’t even get up to have dinner so we ordered food for delivery. I slept in the living room itself and I have to say the sleep after was one of the best I had in this vacation. End of Day 4.

The beach was parked with yachts but it still didn’t make a difference to the beautiful sunset I witnessed. Saw the sun set to the very horizon of the sea which was only one of the very few times I’ve seen it. Needless to say, it was mesmerising.

Finally, saw the sun set into the Ibiza coast and it suddenly became very chilly, good thing we had jackets. The boat deboarded soon after and our hotel was just 5 mins walk away.

Companies are trying to change the behaviour from paying via UPI to paying via UPI wallet auto load and then earning MDR on that payment at least before they start earning interest income on that TPV. Customers that it can’t give credit to, yet.

It was tricky to dance on the moving boat with people falling over each other but it was also a lot of fun. We explored the rest of the boat, clicked some photos and relaxed, our last day in Ibiza.

We reached the beach (Cala Vedella) pretty late (6-7pm) and were super hungry. Found a really cute beachside restaurant which had lip smacking food and the best view of the sea. Thank God, the sun sets at around 9pm here.

Had booked a table at the Pacha restaurant and it was a great cocktail and fine dining experience. We went in the last slot since we also wanted to go to the Pacha club later. Best hack if you want to go to the Pacha club since the club entry is complimentary with restaurant.

Soon enough, I’m handed over the food and drinks menu and it’s a full 3 course fine dining meal, and you can order anything any number of times. I definitely didn’t expect them to serve 2012 vintage rose champagne, even the lounges had more recent vintages.

We were probably the last ones to board (like a VIP entry :P) and got handed over a paper glass because there were unlimited drinks on the boat. We were looking for a place to sit but everything was occupied, finally saw a group of white men and we squeezed in.

All of us bonded over cricket since the boys were English, they were talking IPL, so it was easy to socialise. We grabbed some drinks and the DJ started playing house mixes of popular songs.

I straight away went to the Swiss First Class lounge at the Zurich airport which was magnificent, it felt really luxurious just being in that space. The bar was open with all sorts of high end alcohol and the food was personalised by the chef, you could actually order anything!

Soon enough, I was on the plane. Entry was from a special door only for First Class and everyone around me looked like some executive of a company. The staff served champagne again even before the fight took off. They also gave a toiletry kit and loungewear for the flight.

I had only been to Hi Ibiza the earlier day (couldn’t go to Amnesia as there were no parties on our dates) and I liked Pacha way better than Hi Ibiza. Hi Ibiza was more commercial but Pacha had this authentic cozy vibe with an energetic crowd that actually wanted to dance.

The boat had a swim stop but the water was so cold we didn’t dare go in. Some people came into their swimwear but they also didn’t go in. This is still pre-season summer for Ibiza and it would be hotter in a couple of more weeks.

The flight lands and people are chattering about a Porsche standing right next to the plane, and I get a feeling it’s for me (I was the only First Class passenger on this flight). I get chauffeured again to the First Class lounge directly from the plane. Felt really special.

I arrive at the First Class lounge and my passport is taken for immigration by the lounge staff, I actually didn’t have to stand in any queue for passport control.
And the lounge is nothing short of spectacular, felt like a living room of an upscale mansion, for just me.

I had initially booked an Economy ticket (also on points) but then 2 days before the trip, saw First Class availability for some more points. The extra points required was a no brainer since this experience actually costs upwards of 4-5 lakhs if booked with money.

The highlight of my experience was definitely sleeping like a baby in the ultra comfortable full bed on the first class. I didn’t even realise how many hours had passed when I woke up.

Just 15 mins before the actual flight departure, I get greeted by the staff that my chauffeur was ready to take me to my plane. I take the special exit from the lounge to get into the Swissport Mercedes car and directly arrive near my plane.

I soon land (after an 8 hrs flight) in Delhi and there’s a placard with all the First class passenger names, the guy takes us through immigration (again, special queue), and I’m out in a jiffy (with priority luggage).

Axis Vistara Infinite for domestic business class tickets, SBI cashback for regular online purchases (5% cashback), Amex Plat Travel (for 4 lakhs annual milestone), TataNeu Infinite (1.5% for UPI spends).
