Young folks in India are happy working from their native home & saving cost of rent and getting home food.
This is a fantastic short term benefit but the cost of this is very high.
Learning being around smarter folks & absorption by osmosis and overhearing has reduced to zero.
Elon musk may end up running 4+ 500 billion companies simultaneously at a relatively young age.
What I want to really understand: how does he do it? How does he manage context switching? How does he design his Org?
So many questions.
India’s Population: 138 crore
highest selling book in any year: max 1.5 lakh
Most top books are motivational. Motivational books are like sports shoes. The joy of buying them makes you feel you’ve solved all your problems. But neither is really used by most except for status.
We as Indians will have 2 choices after this storm is over.
Give up hope and leave this nation after all the pain and suffering we went through.
Convert all of this pain and suffering as potential energy to fix this nation forever.
One choice is easy, other is worthy.
Update: CRED members can now donate CRED coins towards buying oxygen concentrators for hospitals, healthcare orgs across India. With a goal of 1 billion litres, we’ve partnered with Milaap to ensure contributions reach hospitals in need.
Age doesn’t make you old.
You become old when your brain resists new music, new cuisines, new artists, new experiences.
Resistance to new is ticket to irrelevance.
World is hard for ambitious people who don’t keep growing their skills.
Ambitions are achieved with skills, not wishes and dreams.
Those who are ambitious but don’t focus on deliberate upskilling, are in constant state of anxiety.
Impact of WFH on youth is the same as impact of children who study at home.
No real bonds. No real social or network skills. Illusion of understanding and learning. No osmosis.
Comfortable but damaging in the long run.
While we all celebrate how Indians are become global tech CEOs and bask in this reflected glory, we as Indians need to ask what is making our best leave the country and what will reverse this trend in years to come.
A country with its best talent leaving will not win big.
Google, Microsoft, Adobe, IBM, Palo Alto Networks, and now Twitter run by CEOs who grew up in India. Wonderful to watch the amazing success of Indians in the technology world and a good reminder of the opportunity America offers to immigrants. 🇮🇳🇺🇸 (Congrats,

Peacocks 🦚 can’t fly due to the heavy tail they have for status display and mating success.
Attachment to things that give us status become our identity and comes at a price of true freedom.
Pride is prison.
Addiction of coaching classes is making the youth look for new tuition teachers to crack the exam of life.
Online mentors who make life seem easy will hugely profit from this wave of dependent youth till they realize exam of life can’t be cracked with notes from others.
Sexy part of being a founder is no one is out there telling you what to do.
Scary part of being a founder is no one is out there telling you what to do.
Success in entrepreneurship is rare, maturity is guaranteed.
Between 2017 and 2022, about 2 crore women disappeared from the Indian workforce, leaving only 9% of the eligible population employed or looking for positions, - Bloomberg
As a country we will NEVER be a developed nation if we don’t reverse this trend.
While Indian startups are busy celebrating exponential growth of unicorns, per capita income of the country is down.
Without growth in per capita income or jump of female participation in labor force, unicorns will disappear at high speed too.
CRED is trending on Twitter today and hundreds of founders and CEOs pinged me to appreciate our ad campaign.
As a founder and as a startup team, these kind of days makes all the pain worth it.
Humbled and grateful. 🙏

Being good at debating can sometimes elevate you to leadership.
However, being very good at listening (without debating) is what makes you get respect as a leader.
If unicorns of India were ranked not based on their valuation but wealth creation done for their team members, it would be a very different and more powerful view.
Zoom stock is down by 15% today due to vaccine early results.
People are bullish about taking 4 am flights for meetings again versus quick zoom meeting across global time zones.
India has probably made biography for every monarch, every successful cricketer, every star, every mafia lord but barely few biographies around the founders and job creators who shaped India’s prosperity.
Wonder if this content is less interesting or just an opportunity missed.
If people wanted education it’s available for free on internet. They want a chance to change their social status through education products they buy.
There’s no Edtech.
There’s only hopetech.
It’s unfortunate to see tons of smart and young people lose their humility when they encounter some early success.
Lack of humility slows down feedback loops and makes some of the smartest become mentally stagnant.
Comparing with others is fastest and most reliable way to remain unhappy in life.
Comparing yourself against your past while having an image and personal goal for future is a non toxic way to achieve progress.
Humble request to startup media 🙏🙏
Pls publish logo of company or pic of team when funding news are announced instead of having a solo pic of the founder on it.
We are creating a wrong culture by celebrating vanity badges and making heroes of founders for raising money.
Next 10 years are probably going to be the best years to build tech startups in India.
Capital availability. Digital Stacks. Talent pool. Support from regulators and government. Stability in economy. Consumer readiness for tech. UPI. Smartphones. 5G and many other stars aligned.
If
@elonmusk
got a dollar for every time someone tweeted about how he should spend his money, he could have bought all the companies listed on the Nasdaq.
Twitter users in India usually belong top 1-2% of users in India in terms of income or academics.
Quality of arguments, comments, debates, disagreements, critical thinking is scarily low across the platform.
>90 % of startups fail.
But, 100% of startups help the founder and founding teams in knowing who they really are, reveal what they lack, accelerate maturity and eventually make all them better for future than their non-risk taking peers.
Data suggests that our frontline workers are safer during this wave than last one due to vaccine.
Pls get your elders vaccinated. Don’t take chances. COVID is here to stay and the vaccine kills the fatality of the virus to a large extent.
Maturity is outcome of setbacks and heartbreaks.
It comes faster to those who went all in on things that didn’t work out.
Those who remain shallow in their pursuits rarely get broken and thus are never rebuilt.
Everyone in India today is in some version of Covid crisis directly and indirectly.
It’s important that every leader empathizes and makes work less stressful for the team and for the team to share the burden of affected team members.
This too shall pass.
Teams are productive when they’re sharing useful information.
Teams are bonding when they’re sharing useless information.
Bonded teams are more productive.
I often ask many sharp founders on why they don’t tweet or express their epiphanies/views in public.
Most common answer : fear of mocking/judgement
However writing is the fastest way to get clarity in your own head.
Dance like no one’s watching.
Tweet like no one’s mocking.
