It's looking like we've triggered climate runaway to unsurvivable 4-6DegC of warming. i.e. too late. Survival now depends on highly risky geoengineering - the research has to start NOW as well as shutting down the criminal psychopath run fossil cartels.
I don't want to sound pessimistic (I mean realistic) but we need to accept that the only way we are possibly going to get out of this mess is by a massive reduction in consumption by the rich - top 10% income people of the world's population. Sorry. https://t.co/4St9w6Jyiq

It's also stacked against our youth fighting against our ministers for a survivable future. It beggars belief that our psychopath ministers don't already KNOW that they have no higher "DUTY OF CARE" than to our youth and not to defending fossil fuel sponsors' interests!
The justice system is stacked against victims and survivors of sexual violence. For many, it just adds to their trauma. This needs to change. Labor has launched a review into how our police and court system treats victims survivors and how we can make it better, fairer, and

How about a New Year's resolution to legislate "Duty of Care" and stop ALL new fossil fuel projects and rapidly transition to the closure of all existing ones - our fossil fuel exports increase our emissions liability by 400% so 43% reductions by 2030 is pathetic by caomparison!
On January 1st we banned the import of single-use vapes. Here’s some of what you had to say about it.

Deluded hopium unfortunately - if we did reafforestation, carbon drawdown farming, mangrove, peat bog, sea-grass restoration on every scrap of viable land globally we'd reduce atmos CO2 by 20ppm in a CENTURY - we add this much in a decade from fiossil fuel burning!!!!!
@guardianeco How about an “off the charts year” building #soil with #regenerative grazing? When do we get a story from the Guardian about that? Here’s the science.

Better still, just adopt Net Zero for the National Construction Code - this would put solar on every new house in Australia, accelerate emissions reduction from houses 4-fold AND make all new homes more affordable from day 1 - energy cost savings up to 8 times mortgage cost add!
queensland can afford to do this thanks to its super profits levy on coal. would be great to see this directed to putting solar and batteries on houses to permanently reduce energy costs *and* emissions.

I want to reduce plastic pollution too, but can you seriously identify ANYONE on the planet that has actually been damaged from this. This is yet another distraction put into your head (probably by the fossil fuel industries) to stop you spotting what they are doing!!
@WilliamJRipple @green_ecuador @RogerHallamCS21 Where is the missing wave off the pandemic of the plastic pollution that irreversibly contaminates our air we breath, water we drink and food we eat for all the next generations? Where ?

In Australia, we call out "Thoughts and Prayers" from psychopathic politicians that deny they have a "Duty of Care" and STILL approve new coal and gas projects for their grotesque criminal hypocrisy! Any coment @tanya_plibersek
Thank you to the emergency services personnel and volunteers responding to flooding in South East Queensland. ADF personnel will be deployed to provide assistance. If you're in South East Queensland, please stay up to date with the advice from @BOM_Qld.

MUCH MUCH cleaner - you quote big numbers but no comparison? Battery will have 30,000 recharge cycles progressively more and more from renewable energy. That displaces fossil fuels requiring MUCH MUCH higher movements and impacts plus grotesque emissions from the fuels burnt.

You psychopaths don't get off distracting us with thoughts and prayers while you are approving new coal and gas extractions which QUADRUPLE Australia's already grotesque per capita (worst in the OECD) emissions!!! @tanya_plibersek
Such sad news overnight of at least four Australians losing their lives in severe weather, including a nine year old girl in Brisbane. My heart goes out to the families of those Australians who have lost their lives – and to the communities taking care of them.

I believe some major donors to the Coal ition are big investors in nuclear technology (e.g. Trevor St Baker) and Coalition always go where their owners want them to go. Cowardly Coalition Lite Labor have now proven them-selves just as sold-out!
@Sadie_Winter74 i think it’s more complex than that. mcmahon dumped plans to build a nuclear weapons capability. howard was wheeling and dealing with the democrats. dutton is trying to come up with an alternative to aemo’s plan.

Ok, if I just accept your premise at face value, why wouldn't Australia reindustrialise, using our abundant mineral resources, producing the renewable energy tech that the rest of the world (that are not climate deniers) want instead of coal, just as Twiggy Forest envisages?
There really are no words. Is turning the grid upside down on the hope technology that does not yet exist will fix it just in time, the best thing for Australians battling through the deindustrialisation of their nation is to show understanding, care & help reverse it. #auspol

Yes OK, but our gun deaths are less than a 12th those in US. If you really cared about making Australia safer you'd declare your "Duty of Care", stop approving ANY fossil fuel projects and withdraw the licence of projects infringing their conditions - clue, its all of them!!
In case you missed it, something important happened this week. This is a big step in making Australian safer.

That's not actually true, the emissions from the production of the concrete and steel used to build a nuclear power station are so large that it takes about a decade to pay back when operating. Renewables are still best and cheapest for Australia but in some other countries....
@simonahac In the 30+ years the Simpsons has run, there has been no Climate change attributed to the use of nuclear Power. The only weird thing attributed to it is this.

Thanks for staying on it @zalisteggall, but we know that nothing even remotely approaching the level of emergency drastic action needed will happen. Mankind is soooo stupid and now looks doomed, but noone's allowed to say depressing things like this are they?
🚨 Alarm bells are ringing loud & clear that the world is not doing enough to ensure a safe future. Just nine days out from @COP28_UAE, world leaders and governments must recognise and act on the existential threat that is facing us all. #COP28UAE #auspol

This probably means we've already triggered the conditions for untoppable transition to 4-6DegC of warming and extinction of our entire expletive species forever - lets go open some new goal mines and fracking @tanya_plibersek @POTUS to celbrate this milestone!!
According to @EU_Commission's @CopernicusECMWF climate data, on Friday global daily surface air temp was 2 degrees above the @IPCC_CH's baseline for the first time in recorded history. Yet another huge wakeup call to all governments in the leadup to @COP28_UAE

And a month ago you went into court to oppose your "Duty of Care" for our youth, to allow you to continue to approve coal mines and gas fracking that KILL a survivable future! Psychopathic!

Yes, that's a BIG problem - no space for a "Duty of Care" and survivable future for our kids and theirs - that makes your priorities narrow, psychopathic, intergenerationally genocidal and ecocidal and these are surely crimes agianst humanity!

Today, I introduced my Voter Protections in Political Advertising Bill. Voters of all persuasions overwhelmingly support political advertising being held to the same standards as commercial advertising. #auspol #stopthelies
