41 years ago, #VincentChin was bludgeoned to death with a baseball bat by two White autoworkers in Detroit. His killing became representative of the violence, racism, and discrimination that #AsianAmericans have long endured in the US. It also sparked a movement.

Among 25,000+ U.S. STEM professionals, those who are LGBTQ were more likely to face career barriers, harassment, and professional devaluation than those who are non-LGBTQ, even when accounting for STEM field and other demographic and job-related factors

A college degree can transform individuals, families, and communities. One problem is that we give too little recognition to the institutions that have the largest impact on social mobility. THREAD

Let me make clear - sexual preference is an offensive and outdated term. To suggest sexual orientation is a choice? It's not. It's a key part of a person's identity. The LGBTQ+ community should be concerned with #WhatsAtStake with Judge Barrett on the Supreme Court.

In our new paper (with Jazmin Brown-Iannuzzi, @ryanlei_psych, & @RonDotsch) in press at SPPS, we find that type I error is inflated in the reverse correlation method. In this thread, I’ll share a brief summary of what we found. https://t.co/9egYTraczZ 1/n

This is a complex issue but I agree that it shouldn’t be called an ethnic studies requirement if students can fulfill it with non-ethnic studies courses - CSU undergrads must take an ethnic studies or social justice class starting in 2023 https://t.co/J9ork753VA”

Today @AAAS, AERA, & I sent a public letter to NSF. LGBTQ people are underrepresented in STEM, but NSF won't commit to adding LGBTQ demographic measures to the national STEM census and ignores LGBTQ challenges in STEM. Disparities can't be reduced if we refuse to measure them.
