just gonna point at the ol' chart here
We found a way to expand passenger rail across America without laying a single track. Dreamstar Lines uses underutilized freight capacity to run passenger trains across thousands of miles of existing rail infrastructure We’ve secured a memorandum of understanding with Union

cool idea, not quite sure how workable it is in LA with our budget woes and even more recalcitrant public unions who don't want a job taken from them. one of the reasons the city told us DIY crosswalk legalization effort would be hard is unions not wanting to give an inch :/

The Sepulveda Transit Project would move 130,000 people with an automated train. If every Tesla carried three people, you’d need 43,333 car trips daily, or 700+ Teslas at any given time, a car every 100 feet, all driven by a human. Geometry is geometry.
The Nashville Music City Loop is about $20 million per mile. The LA Metro Sepulveda Transit Corridor is about $1.73 billion per mile. The @boringcompany project is about 95 times cheaper per mile. Boring FTW.

Dreamstar Lines when you ask them what rail equipment are they gonna obtain for their rail service

if we can get the word out that there are ~0 spare train cars in all of north america, especially cars built post-1958, we can really start squashing all these grifter vaporware ideas pretty quick

While many were excited for the L.A. Metro's D Line extension announcement, the merch that's associated with the line is going viral.

Behold the beauty of undertrack infill - using the space below elevated infrastructure for shops, restaurants, and more instead of leaving the area as a dead zone. One of the elements of the Tokyo urban landscape that makes it pop.

THIS is the kinda reaction that excites me most about heavy rail in LA - so many every day non-urbanist ppl living near Park La Brea are gonna flip when they realize they can teleport to Century City Mall in ~8 min (when phase 2 opens) and never have to enter parking garage hell

This is going to dramatically change Los Angeles. For the first time, a high quality train is going through some of the wealthiest parts of the city. Will shrink the city, boost support for more public transportation, and further challenge our “only cars” mindset.

Today I announced new legislation to un-rig the process for San Francisco & other cities to break up with PG&E & form their own publicly owned utilities. Over the years, PG&E has managed to insert provisions into state law to make it harder to break away. SB 875 reverses that.🧵
