As a former GCC member who served on leadership, I affirm the concerns in this article. Please go elsewhere for counsel. I pray for MacArthur and his elder board to humbly address these wrongs. I speak out because of:.Prov 31:8-9.Matthew 18:6.1 Tim 5:19-21.
A former Grace Community Church elder and former members who sought help from their abusive marriages are calling out “awful patterns of counseling” at John MacArthur’s church.

I honestly just don’t have a “take” on MacArthur right now. My husband & I are processing his last days privately. I stand by everything I’ve posted on X & pray for him & family during this time. Please pray for the local area which is being/will be impacted during this phase.

And crazy thing, most of the cases I know of don’t even involve a wife who was seeking divorce, but she just wouldn’t “fully reconcile” as fast as the elders wanted to her.

@brendatajik @BigPsCigar BTW, both of these incidents happened before I came to GCC, and I'm the second or third longest-tenured employee here. Why are all these stories accusing JM of gross evil ancient history?. Thoughtful people ought to be able to figure out the answer to that question.

I edited too many times and worded that badly: the *whole case* didn’t occur in 2024 but it extended into 2024 and that’s when the church discipline went down.

A scary thing w/ the GCC lawsuit:. it all occurred in 2024. Bill Shannon is implicated in many of GCC’s older abuse cases. He agreed to retire last year. But w/ this case? It’s young elder @MikeRiccardi_. The next gen of GCC elders will continue to weaponize church discipline.

Macarthur is in the hospital, Lorraine is suing GCC, and Duncan was ruining the aesthetic anyway.

Context:. Austin Duncan began the series in Mark on Feb 9 & has preached every Sunday morning at GCC since (per MacArthur’s wishes). Busenitz does not mention in last Sunday’s announcement if *Austin* will be back to continue the series in August. .
The biggest question remains unanswered: WHO will be continuing the Gospel of Mark in August?
