These will be my first three "longform" articles. I hope they will explain some more about this "research project" of salmon lawfare and its relevance to your life. 1. A Salmon Is A Gun.2. Deep Blood Kettle.3. 2001 (Doug Tobin & Dick Cook)

Actually, the funny thing is you can't even claim that the material exploitation of natural resources on the Olympic Peninsula for Chinese luxury good export ISN'T a centuries-old "indigenous way of knowing"(given the modern convention that "indigenous" is attached to a People,

Nice article on some of the actual legal circumstances surrounding the North Pacific Fur Seal Convention of 1911, notable as the first international treaty ever written to address the conservation of wildlife. As the article notes, it is also directly

They are also extremely sexually dimorphic. The bulls can weigh as much as 5 times the average female. On land, the tribes would be able to target and "drive" bulls (like buffalo.) They claimed they could kill 85,000 seals in 2 months (so, around 425,000,000 lbs. of flesh.)

The northern fur seal is an extremely unique animal, an "eared seal" of its own genus that Georg Steller originally called "the sea bear." It is the hairiest animal in the world, after the sea otter (also hunted to extirpation by the Nuuchahnulths for the Chinese markets.)

Interesting claim that the majority of commercial pelagic sealers in this area from the 1870s to 1911 were from local Peninsula tribes (Makah & Nuuchahnulth) who owned their own schooners and could sell each animal for about $2 ($65 today.). But the native practice of taking from

Picked up Kokanee fishing this year. I'd only ever caught maybe 2 and tons of trout. There's so many variables to track. I looked at tons of info went out maybe 6 times with low success. This time I decided to consult the I Ching. It said decrease. Ummm no thanks I would like to

Would you believe that RFK was in Tanana today because a single random white guy from Boston moved there 40 years ago with the singular goal of spending his life subsistence salmon fishing . ?

I think "deep foods" might be a good term for things easy to obtain for $0 yet eaten by very few and (crucially) difficult or impossible to purchase. - Salmon milt.- Fresh fig leaves.- Horse clam.- Pork spleen & other butcher-reject offal (lungs). What are other examples?.

There is no such thing as a "food allergy", no cell involved in allergy knows what "food" is. There is only "atopy" and the "atopic march.". For some people that "march" is a very slow but short walk (childhood asthma or peanut allergy -> adult rhinitis -> arthritis) but for

But in reality every novel IgE sensitization and activation appears to make you a little more likely to develop new IgE sensitizations. I envy everyone who has never witnessed (let alone experienced) severe runaway IgE-mediated or eosinophilic diseases, which are essentially like.

An alpha gal sensitization is "just" a mortal allergy to preparations of a million common pharmaceuticals including NSAIDs and basic pain meds, antivenoms, 90% of supplements, cancer treatments, heparin, hormone therapies and vaccine adjuvants, heart valve replacement, etc. .

Setting aside the meat question for a moment:. Do people really believe that a allergic disorder that begins by violently sensitizing you to one of the most common biomolecules in the world stops at a "severe but nonfatal" reaction to some types of food?.

Eating off these would involve consuming small amounts of shell all the time. I wonder if the microscopic amounts of dried proteins left over in the shell could induce an IgE response in a person with shellfish allergies.

If you're struggling to eliminate lead and nickel from your dinnerware, consider "Capiz shell" plates made in the traditional style of the Phillippines from the windowpane oyster (actually a type of clam.)

"Hybridizing" Pacific salmon is something people talk about occasionally as a way to create broodstock more fit for warmer sea and river temperatures, especially in OR or California. The "choho" (unfortunate name) is a coho-chinook hybrid that occasionally occurs in the wild .

Caught hatchery chinook/pink hybrid today. In the Great Lakes artificial Pacific salmon fishery they are more common and called "pinook." Obviously you could choose to use the other version of the name as well, if you wished, and some do.

Valued scientist, lab tech, hausfrau oomfs, I clean multiple large "food contact" polyethylene fish totes biweekly. Need alkaline + surfactant solution I can spray on then rinse that quickly removes blood and mucus plus prevents biofilm. WHAT would you use?.

Rare 1970s Montana style bugout property on 40 acres inside the Olympic NF, probably the last private parcel left in this area. Unfortunately the old double wythe CMU and South African Shutters tricks here are almost a "Fudd" style anachronism now, they won't do anything for you.

"Stockfish" is an interesting case of a traditional staple or subsistence food that has never been produced in the country that depends on it. In Nigeria, the fish is so essential that it's sometimes referred to as the country's "the single weapon" against kwashiorkor, a form of
