and if that doesnt work maybe you can be cognizant that a pedestrian accident at a road junction may cause traffic jams! Maybe that can be your incentive!

As someone who walks/cycles/buses to work, I am on your team! As are the several other cyclists and pedestrians who are actively reducing traffic in Bengaluru through their actions. Our safety matters. #pedestriansafety

Lack of safety & infrastructure for non-motorised transit is the reason people choose to drive instead of walking or cycling—ironically adding to the very traffic the policemen on the road wish to clear!

This is not a one-off incident. It’s part of a larger problem: Traffic police do not see pedestrian safety as part of their mandate. It seems the mandate is primarily clearing traffic.

Though there is a high pedestrian footfall from Snow City and mango market, the signal rarely stops for pedestrian crossings, especially during peak traffic. The recently installed pedestrian signal seemed like a respite, but neither car drivers nor traffic policemen respected it

They asked the cars to move on as I crossed at a green pedestrian light, risking my safety. When I protested in aghast, they yelled at me, angry that I had stopped the traffic for those 10 seconds (And not just run across the slippery wet road while dodging traffic)

We need to discuss the role of traffic police in maintaining pedestrian & cyclist safety. Yesterday, two traffic policemen yelled at me for using the recently installed pedestrian signal at the Jaymahal & Nandi Durga road junction. @Jointcptraffic @DULTBangalore @blrcitytraffic

When childcare is deeply gendered, a reliable childcare infrastructure can aid, boost and sustain women's labour force participation. @antaraxrai and i write about the Karnataka govt's announcement to set up koosina mane for children of working mothers! https://t.co/mqOYmQAqg5
