As I said yesterday, the National Guard (and now Marines) in LA aren’t in the hotspots; they’re guarding federal sites as a deterrent. This isn’t Minneapolis—no matter how badly Newsom might wish it were.

I believe 100% what I said about the National Guard. I can’t speak to what the Marines will do from firsthand experience like I can with the National Guard. Sending the Marines doesn’t feel like the same thing as sending the National Guard to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

When the National Guard is called up to support law enforcement in riot control, people often believe that means citizens are going to get shot by soldiers. While that could theoretically happen, the reality is that NG soldiers are used as a supplement to existing (1/2).
