If BYU fans believe what they say about Zach Wilson (“he would be so much better if he got some help from his offensive line!”), then I hope we give Slovis the same benefit. In my estimation, this offense is 60-70% better if the OL plays to its potential.

Offensively BYU was very productive moving the ball, but made mistakes that cost them points. It wouldn’t have been as close if not for those mental errors. This performance was not as good as the first three, but it’s also not nearly as bad as people are making out to be

I just bought tickets to the BYU @ Utah basketball game on December 9. Will I regret it? Maybe. I have not had good experiences with Utah fans at rivalry games in SLC. I hope I’m pleasantly surprised.

Look, BYU offense with Wilson wasn’t as good as BYU offense with Romney. I love Wilson and want him to be great. But as an outsider looking in, Romney is better at winning. I know I’m discounting stats, but I’m looking at wins and the feel/flow of the games.

I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again: it doesn’t matter who plays quarterback for BYU, as long as the OL is playing this terribly. Slovis likes to sit in the pocket, Retzlaff wants to be dynamic; both are just trying to survive each play behind a turnstile OL.

Simple zone blitz, tipped by a walked up linebacker, and a walked up safety. The line slides away from the blitz. The quarterback gets hit from behind and fumbles. 8 1/2 minutes left in the fourth quarter, tied game

Could BYU have won? Yes. Does it hurt to lose? Always. But it’s ridiculous not to acknowledge that BYU over-performed today.

As much as BYU fans probably don’t want to hear this, I think it’s far more likely that Grimes ends up as an “assistant head coach + OC” under B. Mendenhall at some other university than BYU.
Coaching as a relationship driven profession. That’s a well-established relationship.

Oklahoma State is a great team. There’s no way I’m going to complain about being up 24 to 6 at halftime. When you’re playing a great team, you can’t expect to be perfect. What a great job by the defense keeping things under control, and allowing the offense to get into rhythm!

3. Just because a call doesn't work out, DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY MAKE IT BAD CALL. If you think it was bad, explain why. I just showed why it was a GOOD CALL. If all you have is "it didn't work," then you belong exactly where you are: behind a screen not calling plays for BYU.

After several months of preparing, I took and passed my CAMS (Certified Anti-money Laundering Specialist) exam today. Very excited to have passed!

Sidenote, Arkansas has been bringing a lot of man blitzes this game (6-man rushes) in addition to zone blitz. The line has been doing a fairly good job picking them up.

I think mine was going into the 2008 season when we did some team building activities during fall camp. Bronco got a bunch of 10’+ little giant ladders and we did trust falls from the top. I was part of the group of guys that caught Travis Bright. Scariest moment of my life.

Look past the act itself and see the commitment behind it. This team is all about “us” over “me,” the team over the individual. This is the kind of thing that makes good teams great. This is why BYU is winning. This is culture.
BYU OL Harris LaChance has cut his hair, he acknowledged today via Zoom. LaChance said Kalani asked the team to tighten it up in terms of grooming compliance, and he obliged.
