Sorry to read this Arash. It draws on fringe aspects of the protest movement to delegitimize it all while there are still students locked up & being charged for standing up against the senseless murder & starvation of a people… this while their own leaders have failed them.
I wrote about why it was wrong to send the police on students and as faculty we must protect them and their rights — but also why we shouldn’t idealize them or their politics — or romanticize about their predecessors in the Sixties

Today marks the 5th anniversary of Vida Movahed's courageous public stand against the compulsory hijab in Iran.

Dai (uncle) Kavous, known as such by all those who loved him and were inspired by his devotion to nature and animals, died in prison two weeks after detention. So fucking tragic! What a loss to his family & friends... Iran’s wild animals must be weeping for him too
The news of my father's passing is impossible to fathom. Kavous Seyed Emami was arrested on Wednesday 24 January 2018, and the news of his death was released to my mom, Maryam, on Friday the 9th of February. I still can’t believe this.
