Ever since the U.S. initiated operation to capture Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela, I've seen many comments suggesting that Donald Trump’s actions would legitimize China's invasion of Taiwan. I respectfully disagree such analyses. 1/

Closest analogy to the Venezuelan operation is the 1989 US invasion of Panama, successful then and almost forgotten now. The outcomes in Venezuela range from some transition to democracy & stability to much worse. And the US will own the consequences.
