This is a revolution. It's bloodless, but that doesn't mean it's not a battle. There are many actors that have different goals and it's hard to see who is an ally and who is a villain. Sometimes people team up with actors they disagree with because they have a common goal/enemy.

"True believers" are concerned with improving security, scalability, and usability of the chains for "normal" people. These are hard problems to solve while maintaining decentralization and might not have a lot of money in it for developers.

Blockchains could be completely banned in the US and still be successful internationally. US regulatory pressure is only one thing effecting the future of these chains.

Centralization of code development doesn't mean centralization of the blockchain. Anyone can modify the code and change the total supply of Bitcoin. BUT that would be a "fork" of the chain. Bitcoin has forked many times, but the "true" bitcoin is whichever the most people use.

Bitcoin is unrelated to stable-coins, defi, and NFTs. The Bitcoin blockchain is not general-purpose, it's only for Bitcoin.

Stablecoins ARE in conflict with the "original vision" of Bitcoin. But the goal of general-purpose blockchains like Ethereum is to create un-censorable platforms--doing this successfully will inevitably result in people doing things you disagree with on the chain.

I think the answer might be obvious, but I find it fascinating how often these 4 things are conflated. And the conflation of any two of these is often insidious.

Trump says he doesn't want war with Iran, but that's exactly what he wants, because that's exactly what Saudi Arabia, Netanyahu, al-Qaeda, Bolton, Haley, and other NeoCons/NeoLibs want. That’s what he put first--not America.

Obviously every powerful interest will oppose it with everything they have, but Trump’s suggestion that Russia, China and the US all cut their defense budgets in half is probably the greatest proposal a President has made in modern US history.

Everyone who want's to democratically revoke power from the current POTUS administration should put their money in Bitcoin or some other crypto (maybe collectively make your own token). This will crash the value of the dollar and with it the power of the executive purse.

The @SECGov twitter account was compromised, and an unauthorized tweet was posted. The SEC has not approved the listing and trading of spot bitcoin exchange-traded products.

The tradeoff, I'm realizing, is this doesn't enable chaining like the "intent" would. But it does open up parallel execution a lot. So maybe this is a stop-gap solution? This would just require an update to the nodes, not a hardfork AFAICT.

As long as the txs are mutually exclusive, i.e. spend at least one of the same inputs, then there is no danger to this. And it also allows the submitter to prune the tx to only show the chosen values and this would save space on what could otherwise be a huge tx.
